They are worried about publicity, but I would think coming out with a statement that said Joe Jackson is out of his mind would be believed and understood by just about everyone. As of the money, the Jacksons have it, apparently they don't want to part with it.

It will be a sham, and since it has already been designated as "private", which was done in no small part for a situation like this, no one will see them grieving as they lower an empty casket. If they pay up, then he does get buried there, in a turnaound of policy for Forest Lawn. However, if he does get buried, it means the family not only forked over all the money they owe so far, they will have also paid for the extra care and security it will take to maintain the integrity of the gravesite/interment. And, apparently, the mother HAS been to see him several times since he died. He's still in okay condition, or enough of him that would be viewed is "viewable".

Push came to shove, and Forest Lawn told the Jackson family they would NOT bury him without getting paid, but would participate in a charade of burying an empty casket. Even the family realized the ridiculousness of this, and because the family just-doesn't-want- to part with any money at all, they've petitioned the court to make the Estate pay for it. If the Estate pays, then the body finally goes into the ground in Glendale with Forest Lawn getting a HUGE bit of money to pay for the inevitable security needs in the future. No money by Thursday, body stays in cold storage.
