I don't see the controversy in having the estate pay for the burial costs - especially if they're extraordinarily high. Why should 'the family' pay if the estate of the deceased himself can easily cover it?

In the end, it isn't, although the Administrators of the Estate have a fiduciary duty to just about automatically say "no" to such requests, and then if a court orders it, they're covered. Here, Joe Jackson has arranged for a rather expensive burial, ultimately not spending a dime of his own money nor money he controls. If a controversy exists, that's it. The way this has gone, I won't believe MJ is in the ground until my source confirms it. Right now MJ is cooling his jets in a rather seedy underground refrigerated basement drawer.

    - He's in the casket tonight and was interred because they got the money.

    - Joe Jackson wanted mannequins set up around the casket at the service dressed in MJ's various uniforms. Forest Lawn said no.

    - Joe Jackson insisted the ushers be black or hispanic only.

    - the Jacksons have been late for everything. Forest Lawn knew the ceremony tonight wouldn't start on time because of this.

    - one reason for the 70 day delay, something I've known but couldn't tell, is that the family not only bought the crypt for MJ, but insisted on a dozen more around it too. This required asking the permission of other families who either had those spaces reserved or had someone already there. They all got moved for MJ, after they were compensated by the Jacksons.

    - don't read further if you don't want to be grossed out. He's had to be embalmed three more times since the Staples Center charade. He's been moved constantly from one Forest Lawn to the other in the last two months because he has been kept where's there's space. The majority of the time, he's been kept about five miles from where I live, in two different places. Tonight was the first time he's been to the one in Glendale. In transit, he's not refrigerated. His hair plugs have died, his nose has cracked off, and they've all been glued back on. The family wanted an open viewing but Forest Lawn absolutely refused that too.

    - the pool feed camera was cut off as the casket arrived because the family is going to sell a DVD of the service.

I read the article about the event tonight and it did talk about how the Jacksons were an hour late, making elderly people like Elizabeth Taylor wait in 90+ degree weather and smelling the fires. Classy.

I also read about the lights and boom mics so the Jacksons could include it in the concert DVD this fall. Or maybe it's like you said, and they're doing a separate DVD. It wouldn't surprise me - make sure they sell as much product as possible.

"In court on Wednesday, it was disclosed that 12 burial spaces were being purchased by Jackson's estate at Forest Lawn Glendale, about eight miles north of downtown Los Angeles, but no details were offered on how they would be used."

They got the Probate Court to order the estate to fork over an additional $380K for them. The estate had nothing to do with the arrangments. It's what I said above- Joe Jackson made all these plans, spending someone else's money- in this case now, his grandkids, since they now realize money from the estate. Joe Jackson is truly an ass.
