But you won't ever know that because you aren't them and you aren't feeling the pain they feel. Here's a nice example for you and every word of it is the truth. I went to camp once when I was younger and it was a girl scout sleep under the stars camp. One of my fellow campers woke up SCREAMING and crying and hysterical sometime after midnight. Now this girl was mentally handicapped, but she was just as subject to home sickness as any other girl at that camp. At first all of us were very annoyed that she not only had woken everyone else, but she was completely hysterical and would not stop crying. Everyone was trying to console her and get her to stop crying and the girl begged us all to sing Michael Jackson's Heal the World. Only 2 other girls and I knew ALL the words, everyone else only knew the chorus. So we sang Heal the World over and over. We must have sung it at least 6 or 7 times, but the girl FINALLY laid down, smiled at all of us standing around her said "Thank You" and fell asleep. Music has a very deep connection with anybody and I think a connection to the musical artist comes with that. Just because YOU may not connect with that song or that artist does NOT mean that other's don't. It certainly does not make them mentally ill as you suggest either.

He had complete control of what he said in an interview with Martin Bashir that he believed was going to repair his image. He only made people more creeped out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...&index=8 Go to 3:45 and understand why people are saying what they are saying about him and his insane followers. It's cult-like. It'd be like trying to deny that Walt Disney never did anything bad in his life.

The issue I have with what you said is that you made it very personal to FANS of this man, not the man himself. Fans that could very well be your own friends and family. We ARE all human after all. The point I'm trying to make is that just because fans are mourning someone that you don't approve of is NO reason to say that they should seek medical help. But I'm not about to get in a spat over this on LP. I hope that all the family, friends and FANS of Michael Jackson are able to find peace and I hope the MJ is at rest far away from the media circus that was his life. Like him or not, the guy is a legend and will always be a legend.

Originally Posted By SpokkerJones "But I often wonder about the parents of the kids he allegedly molestated" They were scum. It's perfectly possible that these two things are true. 1. Michael Jackson is a pedophile. 2. Michael Jackson did not molest any kids. He had an "artistic" book of naked young boys. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law...dex.html "The defense wanted to call librarian Mary Minow to analyze the singer's book shelves and testify about the artistic merits of such books as "Boys Will Be Boys" and "The Boy: A Photographic Essay." But prosecutors argued that if Minow was in, then former FBI Special Agent Ken Lanning, who specializes in pedophile profiling, should be allowed to testify that Jackson's reading materials, some of which was seized during a search by police (pictured), could also be used to arouse young boys. Both sides agreed to pull their witnesses." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7681758/ "The jury also was shown the cover of a book called “The Boy: A Photographic Essay.” It also contained an inscription that said: “To Michael from your (heart symbol) fan, XXXOOO, ’Rhonda.”’ The note was dated 1983. Smith said both books featured boys “playing, swimming, jumping.” Prosecutor Ron Zonen said earlier that one book was about 90 percent pictures of nude boys and the other about 10 percent." He definitely had an adult sex drive as he had plenty of adult pornography.

Many people have said he was eccentric. I'll take it one step further...he was insane. No question. I don't *think* he did those criminal acts, but I can't say for sure. But he was definitely nuts. Still, I can manage to separate the art from the artist on this one.

I've never been able to understand that level of hero worship bestowed upon an entertainer or politician. It's sad when someone who meant a lot to you dies, but as you said, I didnt' know him, he's not a member of my family. But on the other hand, people react to things differently. Many people were totally shaken to the core by the death of Princess Di, while I really knew nothing about her and couldn't care less. But I didn't for a moment want to diminish the intense feelings of others. So while I look at a picture of fans gathered around a Michael Jackson star (even though it's the wrong star), I would never stoop to calling them mentally challenged. The world has suffered a loss, and some people feel it more than others. Give 'em their space.
Originally Posted By danyoung >Well, now the King of Pop is a dead corpse, just like in his Thriller Video, how ironic.< And this is just an incredibly cheap, moronic statement. There is nothing intelligent or clever about this, Mr F. A person who meant a lot to a lot of people had died, and you're contributing nothing but a cheap shot. I know he had a lot of troubles, and perhaps "mentally unbalanced" isn't so far off the mark. But he was an amazing musical talent, and his music and his performances were very important to many. To talk about him being a dead corpse is just rude, thoughtless, and infantile.
