I just watched the clip of the interview that was linked to for the first time. To me it sounds like he is a guy who has been through way too much and just wants to make the world a happier place however he knows how. Not such a bad message if you ask me.
Kira, I agree with everything you have posted. Thanks =)

When you've practiced in the field of law that I do in the Los Angeles area as long as I have you learn a few things. Jackson should have died in jail. Be that as it may, he had a host of emotional problems that were compounded by yet another myriad set of factors none of us will ever be able to relate to in any way. That doesn't excuse anything, but it helps explain some things, maybe. He was not normal in any sense of the word. I don't think he ever stood a chance in that regard. But as it relates to the sadness people feel who choose to grieve the loss of the entertainer part of him, I think people should respect that.

No one should tell anyone else how to grieve over anyone or anything, from a wife or mother or brother to a dog, cat, Elvis, Jackson or Adventure Through Inner Space. It's personal and different for each individual and the personal nature of it is why others don't understand it. However, that's not license to be a classless fool and spew out things merely for the shock value. It's like being Fred Phelps at the military funerals. Don't make us think the wrong person is going in the ground.

And it isn't surprising that Michael Jackson's death would impact people. There's the shock of the unexpected, and his music played a key part of several generations of fans.

I was just thinking last night about how MTV resisted playing any of his videos and that of other black artists, saying they were purely a rock & roll station. You think about Brown vs. Board of Education and Rosa Parks and all this stuff that happened long, long ago and then realize that some of this stuff was still going on not all that long ago. (And no, I am not equating those earlier civil rights efforts with Michael Jackson's videos breaking through on MTV, but it's a cultural milestone that was important and was a major shift in the world of entertainment.)

"Detectives have been swarming Jackson's Holmby Hills home and impounded a car at the home last night."

Holmby Hills? It seems we know of other famous people that have lived there.

    Then there was this:

Take a look at the address on the screen: 100 N Carolwood Dr. A quick Google search shows that Walt lived just down the street at 355 N Carolwood.

The coroner's investigation and autopsy are routine. On the face of it, so is the impounding of the car. It could have been identified as the one he last used, or possibly one no one could ID, who knows. If the Demerol part is true, then this is likely going to become one of those things that didn't have to happen.

Very sad but not really anything that most people didn't already know. Back during the Bashir fiasco, I think most of us were wondering who the hell his handlers were and why they were doing such pisspoor jobs.

Here's the thing that always bothered me about the situation with Michael and the young boys. I couldn't understand (and still don't, really) why, if innocent, he would put himself in the same situation again and again. Most men I know wouldn't think it appropriate to sleep with other people's children EVER, but to continue to do it after being accused the first time...something's not right there. And that is all I'll say. I don't want to bash Michael. I just am mystified by his choices and, overall, extremely saddened by the whole situation.

There is no doubt MJs music changed was revolutionary and I love some of his older stuff.

That said.... he was likely a child molester.

He would have easily been convicted if the 'last' child's mother hadn't been a wacko.

There was a documented history of payoffs including 20 million to a family of a child that again kept him out of jail. MJ himself admitted that he loved children and often slept in the same bed with them.

IMO... A lot of crimes can be forgiven but not child molestion.

As a father of a 6 year old boy when I heard of him dieing all I could think of was the ruined lives of all the children he molested as opposed to the music.

JMHO, I think MJ slept with children in the same way people sleep with their dog or cat. I sleep on the floor with my dog; that doesn't mean I'm into beastiality. Likewise, MJ slept with kids; that doesn't mean he was a child molester. Yeah, it's not normal for a grown man to have kids in his bedroom, but he wasn't exactly like everyone else in the head.

Listen. I get that people are fans and don't want to hear about it.

Perhaps the tribute thread should be in the community forum.

That way...those of us that feel the world would have been better off without MJ don't feel we have to shut up (here in WE) just because we don't believe the genius of his music trumps the ugliness of his actions.

No, but no one thinks that sleeping with a dog is abnormal, either.

FWIW, I'm not a "fan." I don't own a single MJ recording. I merely recognize he was a major and influential musician. As for his personal life, I honestly don't think he was the monster you think he was. Did he have an abnormal "thing" about kids or young boys? Yes. I just don't think his thing was malicious or dangerous, like a true pedophile. But I'd be the first to admit I didn't follow the news of the time; I don't know how much evidence there is against the guy... what is factual and what is circumstantial.

Not only that, but the boy was able to describe the blemishes on his penis.
