Nevertheless, the district's populace doesn't seem to be very rational.

Over a 10 year period - I've caught many statements from her, about her .. from a few cable news networks. Some of things I caught - were so unbelievable, I've forgotten some of them. But what's not forgettable - is how much of a liar she is. And incredibly bigoted/hateful to gays - and denies it. Thus, making her a liar.

Anyone care to add a paragraph to summarize her??

We might get a Cruz, which to me would be much worse. Bachmann has already largely been sidelined as a joke. She isn’t taken seriously anymore outside her district. She is harmless.

I will hold hope for someone better, and this is, of course, the first requisite step. But I’m not so optimistic. Sorry for being a couple raindrops on the parade.

She's a Congresswoman (lower House, here in the States) from the state of Minnesota. And the rest, you kind of know. There's nothing particularly special about her - she's managed to vault herself to national attention through outlandish, mind-numbingly stupid statements. It's one thing, for example, to oppose gay marriage. It's quite another to say the Founding Fathers handled slavery really well in the Constitution or that Terri Schiavo was a perfectly healthy woman who was removed from life support. But every country and every party has their crazy, right? Well I think what's kept Bachmann in the spotlight is the utter unwillingness of her party to disassociate themselves from her. She actually ran for President in the Republican primary last year. In fact, she *won* an Iowa straw poll. To many of us, she symbolizes just how extreme the Republican party can be. Not all Republicans are like her, of course, but they all tolerate her. The party has become a place where someone who is equal parts ignorant, bigoted, dishonest, and McCarthyite can not only survive, but flourish.

    >>McCarthyite<<

That's, more or less, what I gathered about her. I watched a lot of CNN and MSBNC from 1998 to 2009 while still living in the states. And the amount of stupidity out of her .. was so overwhelming ... one tends to forget. There's so many things she has said that the likes of CNN & MSNBC correspondents have covered. It's just one big mind-numbing mix of crap about her.

Recently, my partner asked me who is Michele (ONE L ;) Bachmann ... and I said, Can I spare you from knowing? ;) So, he pulled up a video. And in this particular one .. she brought up marriage equality - and referred to gays as "A Lifestyle". Like it's a choice.

And as the video went on ... she denies any wrong doing - with her views of gay people.

She's either a huge liar .. or one of the most delusional, state of denial types to ever walk this Earth.
