I too watched him when I was a kid. I liked that he had a co-host the entire week. My favorite was John Lennon. I thought that was so cool.

I also was a Dark Shadows fan. And, tapdancemom, the show you are talking about with Paul Revere and the Raiders (featuring Mark Lindsey) was called "Where the Action Is." I watched that too.

Douglas would come out and entertain the audience, then would stick around after the taping to meet the audience.
His format was similar to Merv Griffin and Dinah Shore (who had afternoon shows at the time), except Mike usually had a 'guest host' who would be his first guest the enite week. He would often do 'Theme Weeks', like a Halloween theme. I remember in the 70's him having Darin McGavin on, in Kolchak garb (blue pinstrip suit, straw hat, tape recorder) as the guest host. Then that week he had people like Vincent Price and Bela Lugosi's son on as guests.
I missed him when the show moved out of Philly, and I don't think I saw much of after that.
    We'll all miss him.
