    From 1984 to 1994... that's the key.

Eisner "did a lot of stuff that was not idiotic"?

Correction: Frank Wells did a lot of stuff that was not idiotic.

When Wells died in 1994, Eisner lost his guard rail.

Without Wells, Eisner was unconstrained and without focus.

Wells was the true guiding force of positive change for the company.

Yes, Wells did a great job of keeping things on track, but if it were Eisner that had died in 94 and Wells that survived, I don't think he would have lasted. He had the business sense to run the operation, but he didn't really have the vision that it took. Much like the Walt and Roy dynamic, the two of them together were greater than the sum of their parts.

Maybe other executives in other divisions needed to learn how to say 'no' to Eisner.

Several did, and several were replaced.

DCA was the best example. The only thing that saved many of the Imagineers that opposed the "Hip & Edgy" concept was Tokyo Disney Seas. Otherwise, many more would have been let go.

Most of what is great about Disney today has a part of Eisner's hand in it and the parks would likely have crumbled or been sold off to someone else to suffer a Six Flags/Bugs Bunny weak existence. Eisner overall is a plus.

As this board illustrates, there's a lot of misguided unhappy people around, and the internet gives a voice to pretend like all of our opinions matter. They don't. Mine included.

I think anytime you have a land that's just for tiny people, anyone who isn't tiny which will be at least half of the people in the land, will be bored and hate going there. It's fine to have a land that's mainly for small people as long as it's interesting or fun for big people too which FFF really tends not to be.
The exception to that is ITTBAB, but it's actually a bit scary for really small kids. When the seats moved like there were bugs crawling out of the seats, my three year old shot up out of his seat panicking.

The poor kids mother had to go chasing after him - and I must admit, it was hysterical!

Actually it IS funny and cute when kids get scared like that. My son didn't care for the spider part either. Although, over all, I don't regret taking him because he loves Bugs Life movie and liked seeing the characters. My daughter was never much afraid of anything like that, so she never had a problem even when she was younger.
