Best scene goes to the finale when the Giant Lava Ball of Doom goes hurtling through the hotel and destroys the entire resort. And a snippet from one of the earlier infomercials for the Dean Martin Roasts; this one was for the Michael Landon roast: LORNE GREENE (on Bonanza): There we were: a 45-year old man and his 3 40-year old sons...

However, he just doesn't disappear into his roles like many actors do. I don't know how else to explain it. It's certainly not because he was first known as a comedic actor. Robin Williams was primarily known as a comedic actor, too, but he has done far, far better in dramatic roles (in my opinion) than Tom Hanks.

The basic plot is the same: frumpy, overweight, put-upon housewife is thrown over for a different model, and she exacts revenge. What's different is the novel was pretty dark. There was a miniseries adaptation aired on British TV back in '86 that was much, much closer to the book.
