How much more magical would Star Tours be if we were merely "training" for space flight, or if Haunted Mansion was simply "introducing" us to the behavior of artificial playful spooks. Part of the Disney magic is the suspension of disbelief, and M:S completely misses that point.<<<

Yes, exactly. It was all so sterile, so "controlled". The point of EPCOT is to be real, and MS never does that.

You'd rather stare at a screen than fully realized theatrical sets?

Yes, it sounds like Mission: Space.

You do realize that the button-pushing in Horizons actually had an effect on the outcome of the ride. You do realize that's not the case with M:S, right? (Did I just spoil some official Disney magic with that remark?)

And you do realize that the ride system is much more visible with M:S (and Soarin' for that matter) than it ever was for Horizons?

So tell me again how you're trying to twist this around to equate Horizons with M:S?

And EE, given your youthful age it might be interesting to know how old you were the last time you rode Horizons... You may be looking @ the attraction thru youthful nostolgia (there isn't anything wrong w/that), but Horizons was a redundant attraction, it was... Nuff said.

Isn't the crystal reused in Space Mountain's post show, or is it a replica?

Yes it was. The first refurb on the desent, some of it is still there... These were the sections that would have a AA looking away from you and they were talking to a video screen, then as you passed you saw the figure that was on video as a AA and prior AA on video. Look it up.

So 3d, do you prefer M:S or Midway Mania to Haunted Mansion, any of the Mountains, Pirates, Tower of Terror, or IJA? Just curious. It's always been my sense that the most universally-loved Disney attractions rely on fully-realized sets and not screens.

I mean you can say they did all you want. I've heard it from the manufacturer and the engineers that worked the ride. The Orange side has NEVER been toned down. It operates exactly the same as the attraction did from opening day.

    Age 10.

I honestly don't think that matters... even though this is a matter of personal opinion, and I prefer fully realized environments, and rich details to cheap screens and graphics.
