I also think the best tribute to Austin that could possibly come of this would be a return to the ways of putting safety above all else. Even if it (God forbid) adversely affects the bottom line.

Changing colors on trains or banning guests from riding upfront have no substance whatsoever.

Safety is all they need. I think they are dealing with it, seeing that any little glitch in the system makes both beams shut down, these days.

Absolutely the best tribute ... just so sad that it takes a death to even make it an issue.

I thought they did implement a change in their policy. I was told that they reverted back to the old policy where you went from cab #1 to cab #6 when switching beams. Also a CM on the ground had to observe the switch. Was I told wrongly about this?

Yes. It is pretty common in the corporate world than when there is a serius wreak/crash they retire that vehicles designation. The news co. that I worked for had one of their live trucks involved in a crash (not our drivers fault) where the driver was seriously injured and they retired that vehicle designation when they replaced it.

Secondly, I see Spirit mentioned something about no guests riding up front. Is that honestly a new policy? If so, how the heck am I supposed to take a ride with my friend Chris and talk to him while he's working? ARGH!

Shame on Disney for inconveniencing me just because it may stop me from being injured. :p

It's a little too light, though...Teal gives the connotation if something darker.
