They don't want to take risks, so they insist on only greenlighting projects that have a tie-in to a profitable franchise or blockbuster hit film. And for quite a while that has all come from Pixar.
Again, just my hunch. But I truly think that John and the folks in WDI would gladly take up the chance to do something completely original again.

Nope, no Hunny Hunt technology here. It is an embedded wire dark ride system. About 70 AAs in all and you will flash your light on to various show scenes which will reveal the AAs doing something. There will also be a lot of different gags built-in. It will be a fun dark ride.

The $90m budget isn't huge by TDR standards (there is usually anywhere between a 33-50% extra cost to building in Tokyo due to the post-Kobe building regs) and significantly less than Hunny Hunt ($100m is way off the mark here).

You don't know me very well, huh?

Trust me, Kane, I've contributed to and know more about this site than you EVER will. ;)

    >>>And to answer your question doesn't it seem futuristic in the Monsters Inc. building?<<<

Not to me. Just kinda like a big factory in real life.

Sure, the door thing is weird, but I'd say it's more fantasy than future. They certainly didn't go out of their way to make the Monster World seem particularly advanced. Just different.

By the way, OC, didn't you read that stuff I wrote a while back about the plans to make a new land which included Buzz, Honey I Shrunk, Star Tours, the theater, and now Monsters?

It won't be Tomorrowland at all when they're finished, it'll be "Hollywood Land". And the REAL Tomorrowland will be from Space Mountain down towards Toontown, which would make the TDL Tomorrowland the MOST realistic and least cartoony. I really like that idea.

Oh, and Mission:Space will probably become a part of Tomorrowland at some point.

At least, that's the rumors I've heard.

Very unlikely X. There is little desire inside either OLC or WDI to start putting thrill rides inside MKs.

However, he didn't say it was definite, just under consideration.

I should have written "might" instead of "probably" though. Sorry.

Ah yes. When stateside executives 'go along with it' they're mindless drones, but when OLC behaves like mindless drones, they're being 'respectful.'

    Got it.

NO, you didn't. The reference to OLC was as sarcastic and mean-spirited as I can possibly be. They CAN be mindless drones as much as anyone else or any company around.
