So you can watch them both again and THEN decide:

I just looked at the side by side video and all I can say is eh.

The Monsters ride seems to have more 3D sets and animation, but SSL was a lot more colorful and had some interesting black light effects. Really, the two attractions aren't that different.

Anybody else find it funny that Malibu got turned into a bathroom?? : )

I really believe this, and I know it's an idiot thing to be worked up about.... but it was idiotic on the part of all those who basically equated the original ride with hitler when the park first opened, lol....

Except for Cher, I think all of them were Touchstone stars or stars on then-current ABC sitcoms, and everybody "got" why they were chosen, which seems cheesy to begin with. Then most of the caricatures weren't very good. Then you had a cheesy Joan Rivers puppet setting the tone right from the top.

Much of the rest of the ride was actually pretty clever. The mudslides, the satiric take on various LA landmarks, even the surreal stuff like the pigs... it wasn't perfect, but much of it was kinda cool, and a neat "take" on the whole Hollywood ethos, which itself is kind of surreal. Unfortunately, too much of the good stuff was subtle and in the background, while in the foreground were these cheesy celebs, which made the whole ride seem cheesy by association.

If they had dropped them, it would have been addition by subtraction, and I think the ride would have been much better received. "Mr. Toad goes to Hollywood," or "Alice in Hollywood," as it were.

The last time I heard the name Jackie Chan was when he was drunk at some concert and went on stage and tried singing then cussed out the audience. And we all know that Disney would not have spent the money to update the attraction with new stars.

Monsters Inc. is by far a better attraction.

I think that might have been it, too. I thought it was actually pretty funny and interesting a ride for Disney to have made.

Monsters Inc. is not that much better of a ride. It is actually almost the same ride.

And some British tabloid editor of some sort.

And the Baldwin brother noone has ever heard of.

And the guy who played "Big Pussy" on the Sopranos.

And so on...a motley assortment of "c" list "celebrities".

Rather comical, honestly. Trump is losing it.

With a line up like that, no wonder I haven't bothered with it. Although I always thought Elaine from Taxi was cute.
