Based on the fact that this guest chose to ride KNOWING that she had health conditions baffles me. I have taken my 5 and 8 year-old on the green version several times and they love it and can handle it. So, I am going to have to assume she rode the orange version (which I will never consider for myself or kids).

This is all in hindsight because of the recent history (2 deaths in the last year), but I have to agree that htis attraction may have been ahead of its time. It's an odd animal because, as a first-time rider, you aren't 100% sure what you are getting into. As many have pointed out, you believe you are in good health, but you may not know just how good or bad of health you are in until M:S tests you.

With a thrill rollercoaster such as the ones at Islands of Adventure or even Busch Gardens, you can see the ride - you can make a visual judgement before you make the decision to ride.

With M:S you don't see the mechanics of the ride at work. If you're a first-time rider, you can't get a realistic "look" at what you are about to do.

I don't know what Disney's solution to the problem is. Maybe the whole thing should go green until more research can be done on the ride's effects.

I have done both versions (I did the intense version when it first opened and had no idea that it could cause the effects it can cause). Personally I find the green version even more entertaining - especially since my kids can ride it too.

Bottom line is that if you have any iota of doubt that your body can handle a thrill ride, you should opt to not ride - or - in the case of M:S choose the "light" version.
