The Magic and illusion was all Walt Disneys and he would spend "what it take" to theme up an attraction to give the best illusion of Fantasy, a step away from reality, even if for just the moment. Todays Disney Parks are slowly losing the Magic as the budgets begin to take over and the board of directors becomes more dollar minded and nearly totally ignorant of the Magic which once was so pronounced in the parks. The Disney Company has become huge and it is easy to lose the view of why the theme parks are magical and what they mean to the guests. The rest of The Disney Company deals with tough budgets, and almost normal commercial matters on a daily basis. The "diamonds" of the Disney Company, the theme parks, are being thrown in with the rest of the "corporate ventures" instead of remaining in the special project folder where they should be. Strange as I read that the Theme Parks are The Disney Companies "Cash Cows" or main source of income, and I believe I read the mentioning that the parks have always been in the black, or not losing money. It is easy to overlook the "Magic" ( and this would include costs for the attraction theme as well as the cast members, who have generally always done a great job in the past ). Having attended Disney parks for over 30 years, I could evaluate how it once was, and how it is now, both how the attraction stands up to guest expectations and guest satisfactions between the 70's and now. I will only say that I have noticed a huge difference in how Disney once was, and how they are today. But I continue to wish upon that star, for Walts' Disney Parks are still my favorite. I continue to be to the point on discussions hoping Disney might wake up, but Corporate Disney has a tough skin to get through. Sometimes it is tough to accept the "what is" and to over look the "what was" when vacationing at Disney today. ID MagicKingdom / EPCOTcentre / DisneyMGM / AnimalKingdom
