The same with a steady stream of busses between the Hub and MK (and EPCOT, and D/MGM, and DD, and waterparks, and golf, and Disney Cruise Line, and the airport, etc). Time spent in line for buses would be greatly reduced, and bus traffic on the roads could be more easily managed. They could also reduce the acreage of bus depots at each park. For instance, the MK bus depot would only have bus stops for local MK resorts and the Bus Hub - none other. EPCOT would only have bus stops for the EPCOT resorts and the Bus Hub. AK would only have bus stops for AK Lodge, All Stars and the Bus Hub. But as you can imagine, the Bus Hub would be a pretty busy place. But with a coordinated design and a constant flow of buses, it would make transportation much easier. No parking there tho. Buses only.

Not arguing any points here - I just don't think that people who are taking advantage and who should walk but can't/won't aren't going to give them up no matter how much we discuss it here. And people like me, who need them, and don't want to make matters worse for the general visitor. I know that I could probably do the park without an ecv short term if there was an alternative to walking the whole distance. I'm sure that others could, too. Since shopping is a lot easier on foot, maybe disney would consider this if they thought they'd make more money (maybe they could do like Las Vegas and have the people mover dump us out into a shop at the exits, lol).

Else you're out of shape, and can really use the exercise. On the alternative topic in this thread, have had to put up with O'Hare, LAX and Atlanta airports on a regular basis (lived where these were the "hubs".). LAX is the absolute pits - will spend extra to go to John Wayne, and never, ever go on a holiday weekend. O"hare is ok, unless you have to change airlines. But Atlanta, that's tough - going from C32 to T01 for the same airline is miserable, and I've had that one with the train broken and the air conditioning out. On a Saturday night returning from Europe. Thought I'd die.

There was never any attempt to do storytelling on the AK river ride. That's part of the reason it failed.

The main problem was that because of the slow-loading and periodic nature of that type of transit/attraction there were HUGE lines for the thing. Once people discovered they really weren’t getting much more than transit out of the thing they were not happy. Apparently the Radio Disney thing was not enough to make them think otherwise.

I know the AK had a Discovery Island boat system (boats are used elsewhere at WDW quite a lot). But there were no "show scenes" on the water system at AK like what Tony Baxter was describing for WestCot (that I know of.)

Steaming caves, a dragon and a sea serpent all inhabited the waters of the Discovery River. http://allearsnet.com/tp/ak/ak drb.htm
