A mugging rate of FORTY in a year, in a megalopolis like Tokyo? That's a statistical zero, I would imagine you'd have to actively go LOOKING for trouble in order to actually get mugged (walk through a deserted area holding out your cash, or something), or else just be incredibly unlucky. People do get hit by lightning now and again too.

Back in the old days, you could withdraw as much as $50,000 cash all at once out of an ATM no problem (no, that's not a typo lol). Nowadays they've reduced that to around $5,000, but still....(I personally have withdrawn $2,000 at once several times, and it freaked me out each and every time!).
