EE founded D64 with the idea of you can be a Disney fan for free. I keep telling him if he gave a free Aston Martin, and a coupon for a free Toad in the Hole, and a Pint at the local he would get more new members.<<<

If only it was that easy!

I'll reserve judgement until I'm on it, but I seriously doubt it sounds as good as onboard.

I think I'm waaaaay out of the loop on these things - never heard of it.

D23 is run out of Corporate Communications - the "club" is exactly what you'd expect from a PR machine. Except for the fact that it is missed every target set and is costing the company millions of dollars at the moment.

I'm amazed that their Destination 55 thing still hasn't sold out - it is such a small affair and they can't even hit their own local market right. Incredible.

Just for Saturday. I need a break from the semester (only two weeks in, really?!), so it'll be a quick trip. Plus, I couldn't turn down the free tickets or the opportunity to use Disney's automagical urinals.

It's like a Mom & Pop grocery store going up against Wal*Mart. It was started at wdwmagic more as a protest wouldn't you say EE. A person in your position really would never become aware of it unless you stumled across the mention of it just like you did.

Disney has some really sharp people, but sometimes they really miss the mark, and I think they did with D23. I've been members of other Disney clubs, but the WDC soon loses interest in their fan base, and disolves the club abandoning their fans. I really never had any interest in joining D23 because of that. For it to be successful I think you have to have both a dedicated fan, and Disney employee overseeing, and advising the operation of it. I think those kind of people still exsit inside the Corporation.

Isn't Ms. Mucha the head of D23 right now?

Burn out after only 2 weeks Leo? I'm sure the Quail Tiles will rejuvenate you!

Lee, Music, MUSIC to my ears. :) I've suspected such for a very long time, while D23 fans will deny that to the death.

Are there any plans to change, or even cancel it?

Pardon me for not knowing, but teacher or student?

I didn't know we were in the same field!

    Exactly. :)

    Peaceful protest, at that. ;-)

It's home is found on ClubD23, currently, as I no longer partake in the erm.. actions...over at Magic.

I would think that the latter would cause some muddy noise, since there would be parts of the track that you would overhear, but the former might just be a little weird.

I'm not sure how I feel about the musical selection either. It sounds like generic cutesy Japanese-techno-pop, not something that should be in Space Mountain. Still, I guess it's better than nothing. Welcome to the 20th Century, Space.

I actually think it has more of a nostalgiac, 70's vibe to it. Which seems to be what they're going for (considering the new poster, too). I think it works pretty well.

No, it plays in parts, which makes it LIKE the SM DL version, but it's not that exact.

That's not worse than DL, just different. I think it works better for our mountain.

Agreed. It has that feel to it, but it also has the connotation of TL94.

Very much strengthens the idea/rumor/indication that they want to "retro-ize" what they already have.

    I approve.
