Good point. I'm only familiar with their Top 40 stuff, some of which I really don't like. That, combined with my negative feelings about the idolizing of Morrison, has prevented me from giving them a more serious listen. I'll see if I can borrow a Doors album from a friend and give it a try.

    songs to try:

    Crystal Ship
    Soft Parade
    Moonlight Drive
    Peace Frog
    Wild Child
    Take it as it Comes
    When the Music's OverUnknown Soldier
    Wishful Sinful

just like with Airplane, most of my favorite songs were album cuts not single successes

    5. Yes, back in the 70's
    6. Rolling Stones during the Mick Taylor era
    7. Delaney and Bonnie and Friends with Eric Clapton
    8. Ronnie Lane's Appeal for ARMS
    9. Grateful Dead (not that I'm a big fan, but I've heard so much about their shows)
    10. The Doors (same comment as the Dead)

    Bands I'm sorry I saw:
    1. Queen in the late 70's. Love their records, but they seemed sloppy and bored on stage. And for "Bohemian Rhapsody", they just left the stage and played a tape. Either they should have attempted a simplified version or just skipped it.

    2. Fleetwood Mac. Actually the music was fine, but there was one breach of etiquette that really bugged me: They used extra musicians (guitarist, keyboardist, and drummer) but didn't introduce them, or even acknowledge their presence. That seemed tacky.

Yeah, that's one thing I don't get. I mean, WHY ever try to do THAT song in concert? It's just impossible! Heck, rumor has it that they overdubbed everything SOOOOOOOO many times when recording it originally that the tape was virtually see-through when they were done!
