That really upset him after what he has been through that they didnt care that it was probably going to involve him walking around in the dark for a taxi or bus. Anyway,we have wonderful friends who took him there. And another who just brought him home. So once there, he had to wait about an hour, and he was thouroughly checked over. They were VERY surprised to hear he wasnt Xrayed when he was taken in there by the ambulance on Friday.(me too) They said his cheek bone is broken, but everything is functional, he has to go back in on monday and decide if he wants an operation to re-set the bone. For cosmetic reasons really. If he does, he can have the operation Monday afternoon, they will try to pop it back into place, if it wont, then they will plate it. He told them he couldnt blow his nose. The consultant said in a panicy voice "DONT BLOW YOUR NOSE, YOU COULD GO BLIND!" He asked why he wasnt told that Friday, they said they didnt know. Oh very funny story though, I laughed so much when Patrick just told me this. He went into the consultants office, and sat in the chair in the middle of the room. The consultant said "slide forward in the chair a little" so Patrick slid his bum forward to the middle of the seat. The consultant said "a bit more" So he slid so his bum was at the very edge of the chair, he was almost laid horizontal, he presumed he wanted him like that so he could examine at him easier. The consultant looked around and said "no, slide your chair forward" It was so he could have room to stand behind him and feel his head. lolololololololololololololol

You and Patrick probably won't even know it when they get their payback. Rest assured, They will meet a bigger group, or a meaner group and then they will know how it feels on the other side of that kind of treatment. I pray if he has surgery, that all goes well and he heals fast.

He has told him he is ok to drive though now as the swellings nearly gone, and he can see ok again (phew) So we are going to drive to the towns castle after lunch.

Hugs to you both and keep us posted. xx

I'm concerned that he may have to deal with a lot more emotional stress over this - especially with the way the medical stuff is being done. It would not be unusual at all for him to have some post traumatic stress from this and it may do him good to talk with a professional counselor or clergy or someone who deals professionally with victims of assault. If he finds he isn't sleeping well or not eating or just feels jumpy, please suggest that he check it out.

LOL! Classic bloona stuff.

He might be sleeping there that night! My friend says he will try to run me through there to see him if he can Monday, if he stays in. Patricks friend says she will go and visit him, she lives near to the hospital. I dont want him to be alone

Coming as late as I am to this thread, I still don't think anyone has mentioned this... Congratulations to Patrick! He should feel very proud. Even after a couple of drinks, he was (1) clear-thinking enough to realize that "retreat" was the best strategy and (2) man enough to do it. His having both the realization and the fortitude to "run away" may have saved his life. Too many guys get beat to unconsciousness or worse because they're too stupid and/or too macho to resist the challenge to fight. Patrick's is a great example of how to minimize loss to self and loved ones. I wish Patrick and you all the best in this upcoming "recovery" phase. In some ways, this could be the hardest part. Patrick might get bored and impatient and tempted to ignore medical advice. [DON'T!] He might feel weird and scared and well-he-can't-really-say-how-he-feels about the attack. But enough time will have passed since the incident that it may not feel legitimate to him to seek help about those nagging feelings. [It IS legitimate!] The change in routine may get on everyone's nerves. Be patient and generous with each other. Keep talking to the kids about it -- encourage them to express how they feel. Err on the side of letting other people help -- whether it's providing rides, babysitting the boys, being a shoulder to cry on, or whatever. I'm glad Patrick decided to have the surgery. Best to go through the short-term discomfort and inconvenience for the long-term relief of the symptoms. Besides, that face is worth preserving. [OOPS! Did I write that out loud?!] LOL! But, seriously, all the best to you, Bloona family.

That would really rock your sense of security, I'm sure. If you're not safe close to home, where ARE you safe? And how can you even take walks around the block now without feeling vulnerable? Man, I hope they catch those losers. In the meantime, be prudent. But don't let those wankers make you prisoners.
