You loved your kitty and you loved him, he will always remain in your heart and memories.

His name was Buttonhook, he was a Japanese bobtail. we got him when we were stationed in Okinawa Japan. Funny thing I didn't know what kind of bread he was. When we were going back to the states the Okinawains had to approve him(buttonhook) to leave. The man was tring to tell me in the least amount of english that he had the this cat was a very special cat. I would tell him, ya I know we love him very much.
Later now we found out what kind of cat he was and knew what he was trying to tell me. That he would bring us good luck. He sure did. He would be so funny at times he would set at the window and look at the cats outside and the weather would be hot or very cold and he would have a smug look. It was funny like he was telling them ya you my be outside but I don't have to be hot or cold. He was so spoiled.

His last night I had a feeling that it was the last. I told him that he was going to be my last kitty. No kitty could replace him, and I told him that it was ok to go to kitty heaven. It was ok to go now that I would be ok. I lied on some of it, when he hid die I wasn't ready.....I just sat with him and pet him. I went and woke up my middle DD and asked if she wanted to say godbuy to button. She was so upset (they are the same age) that she didn't want to belive me. My son said he had already finnished crying.
3 days later my DH told me that even though he is not a cat fan, he will miss him. It's just a space that is not there anymore.

Tiggertoo, wow your kitty is 22years old. I'll pray that when he/she goes you will have peace.

    thank you everyone.
    :)

I've since had three other cats and you know what? They never replaced Cuddles. She was unique (as all cats are... kinda like no two snowflakes are alike). I love each cat as a family member and have never forgotten Cuddles. I've discovered I have more love in my heart to give than I thought possible. Once the opportunity came to adopt other cats I was pleased with how much they loved me and how much I could love them. Maybe I love them each in a different way. I appreciate their unique personalities and physical features.

I understand you need time to heal from the sad loss of Buttonhook. It could take a while. But you may be surprised to find your heart open up once again in the future knowing there may be another cat out there that needs your love.

What a great Name Buttonhook was and from your story he sounds like he was such a great kitty!

I know you need time at the moment to grieve but I remember what my vet said to me when I had to say goodbye to my dog Tessy. I will share it with you.

Getting another dog ( cat for you ) honours their memory. It means you cannot imagine your life without a furry friend and shows you how much they meant to you and what a good job they did, sharing in your life.

We went on to get Woody ( a Golden Retriever ) in our lives and the last ten years with him have been full of fun and adventure. I'm so pleased we have not missed out on this, by not getting another dog and I hope you will feel this way one day.

Good luck Disneymom. I hope you find some comfort in these words.
