In retrospect, maybe the laws need to be re-looked at, but a Federal judge would have struck down the changes if they felt they were maliciously set up to disenfranchise voters.. Or at least, that's how the court system is supposed to work...

They are claiming it was a deliberate attempt to surpress the vote in democratic areas. Same with having less voting booths in denser (democratic) areas then other areas. Same with limited early voting hours/days. If it was an isolated issue in FL it would be one thing. But every swing state that had republican state leadership tried various things (depending on the office) to suppress the democratic vote. It was offensive.

And we can't manage to make voting easy. The last time I voted in person... 2-3 presidentail elections ago... my precinct had 10-20 machines and I never waited more then 10 minutes to vote. Of course I live in a rich, lilly white, conservative county.
