    FWIW, in my line of work, bicycles, there is a mixure of both metric and imperial units. Most measurements are metric, but some parts are "English" threaded. All the ball bearings are Imperial, i.e 1/8', 3/16", 1/4", etc.

    Actually, it's because our fluid ounces are smaller. Embarassing, isn't it?
