I'm just going to make a guess but it's probably a less essential job function with more free time. I'm guessing as a "financial wrangler" you get to deal with more calls and more protocols and more "dealing with feelings" that is probably under appreciated by the company. Just assumed get it done. It just sings of "too much higher level" management. That said at my one job I'm a "Consultant/Expert" (ha!) so I guess I'm part of that fat. I like things run with a no BS! policy. Get it done, don't worry about procedure if it's counter productive. (But don't let the powers to be know we skirted their SOP). If you do your job, you probably know it better then me. It is your specialty. Too bad "Worker Empowerment" is only a business term for more work. (Just like multitasking). Too bad "Customer Satisfaction" means how much can I leach out of our client without putting in the time or truly caring how satisfied the client is with a quality job. Sorry for the rant. I truly hate seeing things like this happen to honest hard working people. Good luck. Na-noo Na-noo.

It's not very noisy, so it shouldn't bother you. Of course they will find it and stop the operation, but maybe it would send a message.

They were quiet for the afternoon, but wouldn't you know they started up this morning even worse than before. My HR rep is in a meeting, but I'm going to go talk to him this afternoon about it. The gal in the other room said that Kathy was in their area yesterday just blabbing away about nothing. Avromark - Kathy has a higher position than I do! You'd think she'd do some work.

How in the heck can anyone get anything done if they are not at their desk for 2.5 hours? Then also take an hour lunch? Holy Moses. New development: It appears that Chatty has been "sharing" her workload with my boss, because she claims there isn't enough time in the day to get her work done. HELLO????? If you sit at your desk and do your work you might just find there's enough time! Anyway, my boss is furious about this and has the CFO involved now, and they both have a meeting with the owner to talk about her chatty behaviour. I guess I'm a nobody and now that this is affecting my boss, something might be done about it after all. The plot thickens.

The worse part of this is that apparently Chatty has no conscious (sp?) since she knew she was Chatting and not working... and then passing the work off - all while collecting her pay!
