20oz bottles of soda haven't helped any either.

So anywho, I did not ride Matterhorn yesterday. However I did ride Space Mt., which I haven't ridden for a couple of years. I was very pleased with Space Mt's seats which have a very nice lumbar support built in. That's all Matterhorn needs.

Sure they'd be using sugar...if we're talking about foods that require sugar. But they're not just putting it in foods that require it. They're putting it in...well...nearly everything because that makes it taste better. And if your salsa or your pasta sauce or whatever tastes sweeter and better than some other brand because it has HFCS, then odds are you'll buy it more. So what's to be gained? More sales.

From hunting and gathering to a shift to agrarian-based culture. In the past hundred or so years though, we've been told we don't have to spend so much time on our food. We have the commercials of the busy moms whipping up some hamburger helper in 10 minutes.

But if you're lazy about your food and you buy it from someone else who prepared and packaged it, than chances are you won't know what's in it. Propaganda from food companies shouldn't be laughed off or dismissed as no big deal because we all learned in kindergarten about nutrition. It's just as powerful as Fox News--I'm looking at you, mawnck ;)

That said, you cannot expect to have dinner ready for a family of four or five each night in 10 minutes and expect to be all that healthy. At least not a hot meal. I'm no saint - my family had burgers and fries from the local Five Guys last night. But most of the time when I cook, I spend at least an hour using fresh, whole ingredients as best I can. (I think there's some value in "organic," but mostly it's been co-opted as a marketing term.)

    Off-soapbox.

As to putting it in other foods, they were doing that with sugar.
Again, it is a sugar, just not granulated sugar. So look up the actual science of what it is.

And a better tasting product for the consumer...how awful! Talk about nerve. Question...does a food have to not taste good to be good for you? Cause if it is I'll opt for the shorter life span that I can enjoy. I only plan on doing this life thing once.

I'm not giving the food industry a free pass by any means. But why do they even need propaganda here?

You don't get a free pass on "HFCS is evil" until you have some proof. And the majority of the proof offered so far has been on the same level as creationists and climate change deniers.

But we're just supposed to believe it anyway because "well everybody knows the food industry sucks"? Nope, not good enough.

If you have a reputable scientific study showing there's a problem specific to HFCS, then let's see it. Princeton's study wasn't it.
