I now had a theme so of course I needed to buy BOTH of them. I love it that I'm not the only one to be excited over things like this Any suggestions on where to buy frames? I think we bought 8 and I shudder to think what the frames will cost

And it was free! OK, well, it was sort of free. I ended up walking from Downtown Disney back to the parking structure today and found a $20 bill on the ground in the parking lot, so the t-shirt was effectively free. Sorry to whomever lost their $20, but thanks. I got the shirt at the Emporium, near the plush display. I would presume they also have it at Tomorrowlanding, but that area was totally closed off for the press event today. /cs

Is there any particular reason why Nemo and friends is done in that style?

What follows are only my theories as to why. Rather than trying to constantly recreate the look of the films, without using the actual computer images (which would be incredibly time consuming and impractical for new stories), they've created a simpler graphic look for each film. Had they tried to achieve the look of the film the effect would be close but not quite right (Check out some early Toy Story storybooks- Yike!). Also, very little illustration work is done inhouse- Disney frequently farms it out, and a simple graphic style is more easily duplicated by more illustrators than a highly rendered style. It's ironic that the CG films are the one's that are doing their books and stuff traditionally, while Disney has been digitally painting their traditional characters (Mickey, Princesses, etc...) for years now.

The closest they've ever gotten to that was a series of pins theat were put out a couple of years ago and an address book and notecards that featured the DL attraction posters from the 50s and 60s (I'm not sure how long ago i came out, but I remember buying it in the gift shop at the old DL Hotel Travelport, so it's been a while). If you can't make up your mind which of the Subs posters you'd like and you've got some money to spend, Tomorrowlanding had both posters in a really nice frame available the weekend prior to the Subs' re-opening. I can't remember how much it was, though.

The real problem is that the consumer products people (who choose which posters are for sale in the gallery) have very little idea what posters are out there. They don't know that between all the parks there are like 5 or 6 variations on the Monorail poster, several versions of the 1977 DLRR poster, a poster for the World of Tron/Peoplemover. I was floored to see the Casa De Fritos poster finally see the light of day in the Official Disneyland souvenir. Heck they don't even sell a copy of the Carousel of Progress poster and that one's been well publicized. I guess another problem is that the posters take time to digitally clean up or photograph, so they don't want to take the time to clean up multiple variations. If you've seen one Railroad poster you've seen em all, right? In my mind, the only way such a book would be worthwhile would be if it included everything.

I did not know that there were multiple posters of the same attraction. I guess those would have definitely have to share a page or two. I was originally thinking of having the books exclusive to the parks, so the DL Poster book would contain all the DL attractions, but I suppose you could mix it with Magic Kingdom... Now that I think about it, Monsters Inc., Incredibles and Cars all appeared to use a retro-60s look in their storybooks as well. I remember all the Toy Story ones trying to look like the movie, and A Bug's Life (that was a Pixar film? Really? Pixar never mentions it, lol) used a 2-D look.

Let's take a look at a few more examples shall we?These are all reproductions so in most cases the sponsors have been deleted. This monorail poster http://www.answers.com/topic/d isneyland-monorail-poster-png says "Board at Speedramp in Tomorrowland or Disneyland Hotel Station" at the bottom while this one: http://www.dldhistory.com/disn eyland/att/poster/tms-446.jpg says" Board Speedramp at Monorail Terminal Disneyland USA The differences were due to their being displayed in different areas. If I'm not incorrect the first one would have been displayed in the park, telling guests both locations to board the monorail, while the second would have been on display at the DLH Monorail station (so that they were aware of the other station in DL). There is also another version (hardly ever see it) that has the Douglas Rocket in the background instead of the TWA Moonliner. Then there's this one: http://content.answers.com/mai n/content/wp/en/thumb/4/41/180px-Mono_poster.jpg When WDW first opened thier attraction posters were all redos of early DIsneyland posters. They printed up silver version of this: http://www.jansworld.net/image s/Gh%20Poster-1955.jpg and changed the title to read Diamond Horseshoe Revue (keeping the Red white and Blue Pepsi colors but deleting the Pepsi sponsorship logo). Anyway this monorail is clearly inspired by the Disneyland version. The wierd thing is how they clearly new what the new monorails were going to look like (there's tiny one in front of the MK in the Background, but they didn't bother changing the one in the foreground. Anyway there's so many interesting little things about attraction posters, I really do wish they would do a really comprehensive book like this comparing all of them, but I fear anything we get will be the same 3 dozen posters that have been published a million times before.

You know, I do hope they come out with a book like this considering they released a book about all of the insignias Disney created for the US Armed Forces during WWII. Also, they released a book of movie posters from the animated films...now that one was not totally comprehensive though, and did not include a lot of the reissue or variant posters. So, if there ever is a book with all of the attraction posters, I also hope it is accurate and contains everything.
