The new Ratatouille attraction looks amazing. Will you be heading to Disneyland Paris anytime soon to get on that attraction, Dagobert? NEW BLOG POST!!! The only buffet style restaurant in TDS. Check out the food on offer at this beautiful themed restaurant. But we hope to go there in summer 2015. The attraction looks really amazing. That's what I expect from Disney. Now it's time to improve the rest of WDSP.

I might have to check it out this summer, since I'll be with some other people and we'll have a little more time to explore the parks I noticed on the menu sign that there's fine print at the bottom saying "All the rice used here is produced in Japan". Is that sort of notification normal in Japan? Are people especially concerned where the rice comes from? In the US, there are a few people who want to know where their food was grown, but not enough to put it on a sign in front of the restaurant (unless it's a specialty local restaurant)

Thanks for that. Disney Cruise and WDW in January? That`s really cool. I`ve never been on a Disney Cruise. Really wanna go one day. Have a good one. FerretAfros: You should definitely check it out the next time you are here. It`s a great place to rest your feet too. Enjoy the conversation and have some grub while you`re at it. The Japanese love their rice, beef, everything produced in Japan. They feel that they produce the best beef, rice, seafood, everything in the world. That notification helps them have peace of mind when they eat, I guess. For me, I don`t really care where anything is from, as long as it tastes good, it`s fine by me.
Originally Posted By Mr X ***They feel that they produce the best beef, rice, seafood, everything in the world*** It's more than a feeling, they really *do* produce the finest foods in the world (you forgot about the amazing fruits and vegetables btw) - now, it'll cost you an arm and a leg to TRY that stuff, and assuredly it is NOT the same at a buffet restaurant so the sign is really meaningless, but if you're looking for the best of the best in cuisine, Japan's got it, right down to the raw ingredients.
Originally Posted By FerretAfros >>It's more than a feeling, they really *do* produce the finest foods in the world<< I don't doubt that for a second. I've been to Italy several times, yet the best Italian food I've ever had was in a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the basement of Yokohama Station

I don`t agree that they got the best of the best in terms of cuisine. They do serve the best Japanese cuisine, but when it comes to Chinese, Thai, Indian, etc, they Japanify (if there`s such a word) them and I don`t think it`s all that. Just a personal opinion though. FerretAfros: Care to share where this whole in the wall is? I would love to go try.

It was a pretty big mall that stretched toward the bay, but the restaurant was somewhere toward the station-side of it, on a lower level. I ate there in 2006, so I don't know if it's even there any more >>You mean, you don't like mayonnaise and corn on your pizza?<< I distinctly remember how strange I thought it was that several restaurants in TDS offered salmon and potato pizza. It wasn't half bad, but it just seemed like a strange thing to have all over the place; if they had something like that in the US, it would be a 'signature' dish of a single restaurant, not a standard item on all the menus I also like how Japanese pizzas often have a sunny side up egg in the middle of them! : )
Originally Posted By Mr X ***It`s a preference thing*** Sure. And I'm no rice connoisseur either, so I really couldn't say. ***I don`t agree that they got the best of the best in terms of cuisine*** I think I didn't express myself so well, I was mainly referring to the raw ingredients (amazing produce, wagyu, shitake mushrooms etc...), and certainly I agree that to get "the real thing" you've got to go to where it comes from (although I must say I like the "Japanized" version of Indian food better than authentic lol). As for saying "best cuisine", I meant to refer to Japanese cuisine itself, which I think is arguably the best (many food critics seem to think so anyway, though you could certainly argue for some other countries like China, France, etc...).
Originally Posted By Mr X ***You mean, you don't like mayonnaise and corn on your pizza?*** Little X requested corn on a recent pizza order. She was overruled. And speaking of strange ingredients, Mrs. X recently introduced me (and by 'introduced' I mean that I eyed it warily) to jellyfish as a supposedly edible item. In fairness, it was in a Chinese dish, but still...

If you ever head to Singapore or Malaysia, you gotto try the Indian food there. It`s mostly South Indian cuisine and I love it. My favorite Indian dish is Beriyani. Can`t seem to find any good ones in Japan so far. Any recommendations on that? My fingers are crossed right now. I have been craving a good beriyani for a long long time. FerretAfros: I love heading out and looking for good food. Really like those hole in the wall kinda places. I might have to do some exploring in Yokohama soon. NEW BLOG POST!!!
