*yum* ok.. would have been fun, if it worked. We ended up eating at RiverBelle Terrace tonight. Cafe O didn't look especially busy but they weren't doing a lot of walk ups (and none at the time we went by around 630/7pm.

Blue Bayou is getting a LOT of business (we waited in the very long but quickly moving queue this evening.. then got stuck right under the talking skelaton for what seemed like 20min (and was probably only 5-10) I was really wishing I had eating a snack or something before we left the apt. =(

You can smell the bread or soemthing from Blue Bayou and then finally when you drop down the first waterfall where we were waiting for the power to go back on.. BLEACHY clean water (although I wouldn't drink that.. it's still skanky water) or something.. and crisp audio..

Definitely want to go through the correct procedure because Cafe O definitely is looking good and the Blue Bayou along with everything else is looking pretty good..

Didn't like being stuck 101 for like 10min in the dark with no snacks or pirate M&Ms to be had. Oh.. and if you find you are stuck like that you get pretty good cel coverage.. (should of called in a reservation to Blue Bayou or something right??) =)

Wouln't you be frustrated if the table near you is inconsiderant and loud?
I used to be a restaurant manager and it always amazed me that some patrons would bring their children who really did not want to be there and made a loud fuss all the while the parents pretended that nothing was happening -
This would happen more than you would think - And I, as the manager would have to go to the table and - in a nice way - would plead with them to quiet the kids down -
I am sooo glad to be out of that business!

Anyways...Its like I said - Its all about consideration

By the way--When we had kids who were quiet and well behaved - I would comp them a special dessert - and thank them :)

My party spent $185 on this meal and it was not that great. I ordered the crab legs and paid about 35 dollars for about three crab legs that were cold and cut in half. They did not taste good. The Monte Cristo was not a choice on the dinner menu so I was sad about that. The food was just okay and the price was very steep. We had a much better experience with great food from Ariel's Grotto along with priceless photos of my daughter meeting all of her favorite princesses.

That happened to us, too. Finally went there for the first time in my life on my 38th birthday, and we got the absolute worst table in the joint! Couldn't even see the boats from where we were... it was miserable. The food was *ok* and way overpriced; now it's even more overpriced so I doubt we'll ever go back, which makes me sad.

I'm glad to hear about Ariel's Grotto, though! We have reservations there next month for our daughter's 7th birthday, and I was hoping it was a good choice.

    Kinda sounds like a threat-glad I won't be there.

Having had 4 children and been able for all of them to be with us for our BB dining adventures-I always made sure that our children understood that they were expected to be polite, soft spoken, and to use their good table manners.

If I am spending $$$ to eat there, I don't want to listen to children from other tables who act as though they are eating in the school lunchroom.

The Monte Christo is a bit different than the last time I had it and it was still very good. I was expecting some sort of mashed potatoes but these were scalloped and very good. We were served golden asperagus and baby broccoli which were both good. Loved the wedge salad. My firend, who is a huge beef fan said the Prime Rib was very good and liked everything elkse. He thought it was a fine meal for a decent price.
Ambiance was the same as before. I think it would be nice now that this is "fine dining" if they could remove a few tables and make it less crowded.
    I will definately go back.

What exactly about the kids menu is so bad? The lack of french fries?

DS had the crab cake appetizer (2 orders) instead of an entree (which made it the least expensive of the dinners ordered), DD had the portabello mushroom and the friend who joined us had the pork chops, so we had a good representation of the menu.

Everyone enjoyed their food. The crab cakes got very high marks. The pork chops had a lovely sweet/spicy flavor. I didn't care as much for the short ribs, but I think it was just too warm for something that rich and they were very rich. DH said that the prime rib was fine, but rather a thin cut. We had some people try the gumbo and some the salad -- of the two, the salad was better -- really outstanding. The bread was a little tough.

We all had dessert, of course. The creme brulee and the cookie with ice cream. The presentation of both is wonderful with the pirate sail on the cookie and the treasure chest with the creme brulee.

The service was good, and we were seated faster than I ever rememer being seated at BB. During the course of the meal a waiter accidentally dropped and broke small plate and was immediately converged upon by about 6 other of the wait staff and at least one manager. There was an element of comedy about it. (I think the guy can handle it himself, folks)

What wasn't funny was the bill. For five people we topped out at $197 before tip (making it $237 with tip) For the same money, we will head to Napa Rose next time we want a spectacular dining experience (which is a special occasion kind of thing). As good as it was, it didn't touch Napa Rose. In the parks, we will stick to Cafe Orleans when we want a splurge. It is a little pricey, but still reasonable for the quality of the food and atmosphere.

    Glad we did it, though.

When we got to the park the 1st day, Sunday, I went over and made reservations for Wed lunch. No problem in getting the time we wanted, 12:40. On Wed we went to check in around 12:30 and I requested a water front table as we always do. The CM said it would be a 35 to 45 minute wait which was ok. I feel that ½ the reason to dine at BB is the ambiance and a water front table makes the meal. Well, in less than 10 minutes we were called and taken to our table. Right up front as requested. I love watching the boats go by. About half way through our meal I noticed that the ride was shut down. My wife ordered her favorite Monte Cristo and enjoyed it even with the changes they’ve made. Our 16 year old daughter and her best friend who came with us didn’t seem to like anything on the menu so we asked for the children’s menu for them and our waiter brought them right over. My daughter ordered the P&B cristo sandwich and her friend got the mac n cheese. I went for the seafood jambalaya and was that a great choice. I had the Cajun wedge salad and it was delicious. My wife didn’t want hers so the girls shared it. The girls enjoyed their lunches and wore their menu hats all the time. My Jambalaya was great except for the two, very small and dry crab legs. Wow, was I happy that we weren’t there for dinner as I would have wasted $34.99 on them. The girls finished their lunch by sharing the Cookie Boat for dessert and I had the Crème Brule which was delicious. My wife, wrap the eatable treasure chest in a napkin and brought it with us. We asked the waiter if we could have a menu to take as a souvenir and he said take them all. We always finish our meal at BB by going over to and riding Pirates but the ride was still closed so we missed that.

Has the prime rib at lunch really gone up to the same price as dinner ($29.99)? It's always been considerably cheaper at lunch, so this kind of a shocker to me...
