That's a spectacular looking building .. with plenty of charm! I thought it would have blended so nicely with the redesign of the nearby Sunshine Plaza. It dimensions look like a good fit for Soarin's building facade.

Carsland is pretty much the same as the original model. it stillincludes the attractions announced.

the parade will still not travel down from the Carthay. There is no room behind the Carthay building to put a gate and run floats thru that.
what you see is the name of the pathway which will run from the main plaza down to the end of the pier

Looking forward to seeing the construction in the "very" near future. I still have'nt seen the beautiful Midway Mania finished and open in person yet, and am jittery about that!

It's very nicely done, and it fits into the area seamlessly. I have no doubts that the changes, if the proceed as planned, will make DCA a very beautiful park.

    What in Luna Park?
I've been looking all over the place for this building, and what it was. Closest I could find to the likeness of this building is this..

It looks like the parades will now begin just behind the Carthay Circle, approximately where they currently leave the Sunshine Plaza and enter the Golden State. That way, there is still plenty of space to view the parade, and it doesn't require blocking the main path to the Cars area. I've always thought that the Sunshine Plaza was one of the worst places to watch a parade (depending on your spot, you see the floats about 7 minutes before they pass by), so I'm really happy with the compromise they've come up with.>>

I'm fairly certain that what you are referring to is NOT the parade route. There probably won't be ANY way for parades to travel through the area around the Carthay Circle as the Red Car trolly will have catenary throughout it's route from the entrance plaza to the Tower of Terror.

It actually appears to be that they are showing that portion as "El Camino Real".

The more finalized Mermaid design seems to be a mix of the Dance Pavilion, the Dragon's Gorge, the Palace of Fine Arts, and Balboa Park.

Ah, excellent detective work, thank you!

And to think that the building in question actually stood here in the LA area in a bygone era. I always thought the whole concept of Paradise Pier at DCA was bogus because I always thought that "seaside amusement park" was really more of an east coast thing than a California thing. But here then is something that makes me rethink.

It boggles the mind that the original designers / budgeteers of DCA would even stoop so low to debut in a DISNEY theme park the utter CRAP that was the original Paradise Pier. If they only put as much honest care and effort to create a total immersive atmosphere typified by things like this from day one, I'm sure the disgust with Paradise Pier and DCA in general would have been dramatically less.
