Dont be embarrassed hans theres nothing sexier then a man in a hawiaan shirt.

Artists, designers, architects, musicians.. none of them know how to talk to lay-people. They get into these heady world where everyone does actually talk the way that they do and use the terminology like that. They really and truly can't see how they're alienating people and not coming off as "real." I suppose it's the curse of the creatively endowed. The solution is Spokespeople. Old hollywood knew it, Walt knew it, and today Imagineers need to learn it.

I just haven't ever seen them out there doing it (other than the annual announcement/induction ceremony).

I actually thought about posting something about it then, but I thought you guys would think I had lost my mind. Everything about the DisCo. is SOOOO contrived these days, it is really hard to stomach.

I work with them about 3 times a year and they work a lot with the media visiting which is quite a chore.

I do a pretty darn good job keeping up with DL in the news, yet I seldom see the ambassadors outside of the annual ambassador ceremonies. I did see that they were at the holiday food press event that LP had coverage of recently (with the chef making the yule log by ROA), but things like that aren't shown to most guests. I would bet that a lot of people will stumble upon these construction update videos, so it might be a nice way to give them some face time with the fans. If they don't want to do that, they could have somebody like Stacey in WDW. She hosts the Must Do's TV program that's on repeat on one of the channels in the hotels. She's perky and irritating, but in the absolute best ways possible (don't believe me? look at some of the old threads in the WDW section!). She is clearly having fun doing her job, as well as informing folks of the highlights at each park. It seems like the host guy for this video may have a similar role, since he said he would be hosting them again in the future. I just think it would be nice to have a little carryover from one video to another, and not just the Imagineers. I really like the idea of an informed bystander explaining things, since designers do seem to be out in their own little world so much of the time. Even the updates on the Disney Channel 5-10 years ago had kids (or robots) explaining the updates in a way that was clear and easily understood, without being too sugary. I had never really thought about it, butthe talking Imagineers in the Blue Sky Cellar video (as well as online updates) just don't get me as excited about projects as normal people do. It helps if the normal people aren't too rediculously excited, but I would rather it be them than some spacey designer.
