FWIW, Dave and Pierce are two of my favorite posters and, much more importantly, PEOPLE here. I know Dave in real life and I am proud to call him a friend. He is a wonderful, kind, compassionate and openminded Spirit. I only know Pierce online, sadly, but I like him plenty. Quite enough to easily say we would be friends in any real world sense. We may differ some politically, although not nearly as much as some might believe, but on most of the big points ... the human ones ... well, we also are kindred spirits. I have told both dudes they would likely be buddies in real life if they ever got a chance to meet. I absolutely believe that with every fiber of my being. I'm a pretty good judge of character (and characters) and these are two fine men. Seriously! I wish that things wouldn't/hadn't got so heated, but there's a whole lot of frustration in the world these days. I have just truly had the summer from hell ... everything from friends with cancer to corrupt judges and lawyers to getting screwed over by a bank that knows its leader has more power than the Prez. I know things haven't been great for either the rightwing redneck wackjob in Texas or the liberal, pinko, Godless commie in the UK ... my wish would be they just relax, step back a bit, TRUST THE SPIRIT'S judgment and make nice. Or as Trippy and Leo put it ... when a DVC thread can cost us two of our best and most valued voices (albeit at opposite ends of the spectrum, often) DVC must truly be the most dispicable force out there! ;-) Guys ... seriously ... take a break if you need it ... but don't go anywhere. This Place wouldn't be worth nearly as much missing either of you. If I were in a room with the two of you, I'd make you both drink until you were singing showtunes together ... but I'm not ... so just trust me on this one. <<P.S. Spirit ain't never going away; gotta love him for that!>> Actually, the Spirit is pretty close to taking a sabbatical of his own. He has work that will take him to Asia and he'll likely be away (may try and pop in, but unlikely) until post-Christmas. He WILL (like James Bond) return, however ... and he'll likely have very interesting things to say after visiting HKDL again, the Shanghai World Expo and (fingers crossed) TDR! But he doesn't want to take off for Asia with two people he admires ripping on each other just because the world kind of sucks these days. And it does for many reasons, not simply the actions of folks on any end of the political spectrum (from this Spirit's view, both parties in the USA are worth less than the candy in my MNSSHP bag!) So ... let's all get along ... I have enough REAL world things to worry about heading to Asia for a few months without worrying about my pals butting heads online (yeah, I said butt and heads ... and when you think of Pierce and Dave ...hell, and Leo ... and Trippy and EE ...and )
