So Disney has given MK more than an e-ticket and restaurant, and over half of the people on this thread persist in slamming. It's been a week since I walked away from this thread due to making people "vomit" and I was amazed it is still active and as volatile and rude as ever.

If they saved their money (and real estate that is fairly centrally located within the land) for something more long term and impressive, then I would be much more excited about it. In DAK, there is still some room between Kali and Everest for something else. They didn't feel the need to fill it up with random meet and greets to fill the space. Instead, they put a couple minor buildings there (bathrooms and a little shop), which could easily be moved if they wanted to put something more significant in its place. It seems like someone was dead set on using the old 20K showbuilding footprint for the Little Mermaid ride (which probably holds over from a plan many years ago), and that forced them to have the awkward area between the current buildings and the future development which was pushed out to the back. That area is too big to leave empty, but it's too small to put anything of any real value in. If they had taken that same area, forgotten about the location of the 20K building, and started from scratch, I think they could have built the same stuff, in a much more growth friendly way. What they're doing right now is sealing themselves into this Fantasyland forever. There doesn't appear to be a good place for a walkway that goes past TLM, so I don't know if there's any chance that they will ever be able to expand back there. If the princesses are in as high a demand as they want us to believe, then they should put them farther back, and use them as a weenie to draw the crowds deep into the park. And all those little houses with Princesses will be pretty expensive to staff, compared to what it takes to run a dark ride like Snow White. While this cost looks fine on initial building reports (you don't have to build entertainment CM's, but you need to build a showbuilding and sets), in the long term it will be much more expensive. And then there's always a (pretty good) chance that in a few years the princesses won't be as popular as they are now. The princess merchandise line seems to have died down over the past 2-3 years, so it seems like this is an odd time to put all the meet and greets in. I'm not complaining because I think that this won't be done well, or that guests won't like it. I'm sure it will look great and people will wait in line for hours to meet Cinderella. Rather, I'm upset because I don't think it's the best use of the space, especially since it limits what they will be able to do there in the future. The layout of the individual buildings is pretty strange compared to what Disney usually does (will there be Utilidor access to these houses? Character meet and greets usually have easy backstage access, and these are in the middle of nowhere), and the timig is strange with how the merchandise has been recently. It's not that all this stuff is bad. It's not. It just isn't as good as it could be. So, yes, I would rather them just build the ride and restuarant and leave the rest of the space open for something more significant in the future than seal themselves in with things that are just okay.

Actually, isn't that typical Disney? Wait until something is about eighteen months past its prime and then start thinking about a new product line, theme park ride, meet and greet and other peripheral "synergistic" tie-ins? Look at the Milking of "Millionaire" and the plethora of High School Musical product we are subjected to.

Much like what the MK has gotten for a generation. The only thing of real substance is Ariel's Adventure. Which would be great if they had been adding major attractions all along. But considering that they haven't added an E-Ticket in my teenaged daughter's lifetime, they are doing a miserable job of playing catch-up.
