If someone "falls out" because they undid their flimsy restraint on the Matterhorn is injured or dies due to their own negligence and a court finds that the seat belts are inadequate, how much do you think that would cost Disney?

So do you think that without this "monster" Disney or other amusement park operators would be as concerned about your safety? Disney has a good track record, but is isn't perfect. The Columbia and Big Thunder tragedies come to mind, not to mention lack of adequate safety restrains on the Peoplemover and the Matterhorn, both of which led to the deaths of guests who tried to stand or exit their vehicles.

"I wonder how far it will go. Once lap bars aren't enough, then what?"

I'm sort of wondering why you think that a secured lap bar can be so easily unlocked.

Tomb Buggies -- little casket-like plexiglass cells people lie down in and are completely enclosed.

Onboard lunch selections are available for purchase, and the Drive-Thru Emporium you gather up all the stuff you want to buy. Genius I tell you.

Now of course, why couldn't they have a large person accessible bob sled, say every 2nd or every 1st one :)

Those seatbelts on the Matterhorn don't actually do anything to hold you in, do they? I mean, I don't think I'd die if I rode it without a seatbelt. Didn't the person who rode it actually get up on there hands and knees and lean out the back of the bobsled trying to reach something?

When I was there in December, I thought about that while I was on the ride, and I can't imagine someone being crazy enough to try that. You're whipping around in a different direction every two seconds, who the heck would do that?

No, they don't, which is basically what I was saying. The new restraints most likely will secure riders into the seat and prevent them from doing something stupid like trying to stand.

I suspect they'll be like Space Mountain - my knees are a bit squished there, not nothing that isn't doable.

Much ado about nothing, says I.

So I'm guessing there will be somewhat less space than currently, but still enough for most people.

They have to put in safety bars. There are good financial and ethical reasons for doing it.
The bobsleds never run with eight people in them that often anyway, or at least when I'm there they're never full.
The attraction was built way before Disney and the rest of the United States became Lawsuitland.
