The new Monorails are due to arrive at DL on the 13th. Like Darkbeer said, due to testing, it will be a little while before we see them in the park. They're not exactly what I would call new. A completely new chassis has been retro-fitted to an existing body, unlike previous incarnations where a new body was put on the old chassis. There will be also modifications to the skin and the windows will be tinted. The plexiglass front and rear windows will also be real glass. There will also be security cameras in the cars. I can't wait!!

I'm guessing that the interiors would be new too. I wish I had asked a few more questions. I know the new side windows are supposed to fit more flush with the body instead of being recessed but that's about as much as I was able to find out. :(

The chassis is ALL new, it's almost a complete opposite of the rehab of the 80's, where the only the bodies were replaced.

My bad - assuming this is true. There were several rumors floating around when this project was first announced that only the shells were new.

I'm wondering if they are using the old bodies to give the new chassis a thorough test and workout until the new bodies are ready and can be installed on the chassis. Just speculation on my part. Can't wait to find out the real story.

Yes. This is what I remember reading too.

BTW: Knott's Berry Farm dates back to 1940 and Holiday World dates back to 1946. There for Knott's Berry Farm is the "Oldest" Theme park in the world. But Disneyland was the first. There hopefully that will make everyone happy. ^_^

Who ever created that "fake" artwork sure did a great job releasing it so that it would be able to fool all us un-informed so-called Disney fans.

    :p

Actually Knott's dates back to the 1920's. Of course it technically didn't become an amusement park until much, much later. You might want to check up on your theme park history.

    Hmm.

HersheyPark dates back to 1907, and Cedar Point to 1870. Both are now considered "theme" parks. (Though Cedar Point is a stretch!) Would that not make them older theme parks than Knotts? Hmm?

Disneyland is the world's first and oldest theme park. Period.

The Knott family sold berries from a roadside stand in the 1920s. The first dinner was sold in 1934. Construction of Ghost Town began in 1940 (considered by many to be the start of modern Knott's Berry Farm). It was not until 1968 that Knotts was enclosed and admission was charged.

It is by no stretch of the imagination "America's First Theme Park."

Interestingly enough, apparently the creator of the park said about a year after the park's opening, "Tivoli will never, so to speak, be finished." It was one of the several places Walt visited when trying to draw inspiration for Disneyland.

But you typo'd the year - it was 1843.

That park is lovely, but it isn't really themed to anything, therefore I'd hardly call it a theme park.
