Does anyone know what the fixtures are that ring the second level platform? Lighting? Sound? Just curious.

Those new speakers will help provide a surround sound experience for riders. The initial plans called for lighting effects, and at one point I also heard they might include fog to recreate the cyclone from the cartoon. Not sure if those made it to the final product - guess we'll find out next week.

And yes, the attraction looks even better than it did in the concept art. They've added a new courtyard directly outside the attraction, with new plants and trees.. and they're layering the details with new lighting fixtures featuring iron designs of classic Donald and musical notes. Pretty cool to see it all come together.

they still have about a week left to add in the finishing touches and final details, so we may see other characters pop up. they're currently installing all the popcorn lighting, and pretty soon I think we'll see the string lights put up.

btw - if you want to see more pictures MintCrocodile has great weekly updates: <a href="http://mintcrocodile.blogspot.com/2010/05/all-happenings-for-today.html" target="_blank">http://mintcrocodile.blogspot....day.html</a>

The tower is brightly colored with very cartoony drawings, while the base is very Victorian with light colors. I'm hoping it looks different in person.

I'm also a little sad that it looks like a lot of the fencing along the water in that area (over to the side where the SS Rustworthy used to be) is still the original, which looks very modern. The fence they have around the boardwalk and upper level of the swings looks very nices, so it's a shame that they aren't extending it out into the surrounding area.

Any news if they will ever retheme the shops of the boardwalk to match the ever-increasing Victorian presence?

What's directly underneath the swings/tower? I wouldn't think that the ride infrastructure would take up so much space. It's seems like a lot of that's wasted by being covered up. Also a lot of site lines blocked It should be opened up like the Zepher.

The rest of the space was used for diagonal bracing for the platform that guests walk on. Instead of taking the bracing out and completely rebuilding that platform without them to create a smaller footprint, they just covered the entire thing up. This meant that the part behind the walls down there is a lot bigger, and the boardwalk isn't directly under the platform, which makes the whole structure a lot bigger than the actual mechanical footprint of the attraction.
