Is it the fact that Mickey is on it now? Other than the removal of the orange, this would appear to be the same ride as before, right?

Originally Posted By Dabob2 I haven't ridden it, but from what I've read, they not only have the music, but there's a nice "surround sound" effect to it as you're swinging, which you can't really hear on YouTube. Also, you're swinging out high over the water, which would definitely be fun (I like that part of the GZ). Inside the orange, you just felt like you were swinging over a concrete pad. It would also just FEEL higher - remember how much better the Rocket Jets were than the Astro Orbiter? So yes, essentially the same ride; yet those things alone would make it a lot more fun, I'd think.

And I rode the orange stinger several times. For me, the views and the feeling of flying are why I love the swings ride. The orange got in the way. Now it will feel like you're flying over the pier, in the open air. The new classy design, the fun theme, and new music won't hurt, either. Can't wait to ride it again. It's no e-ticket ride, but it's a big improvement over the orange.

The speakers were hidden inside the (ugly) orange interior, but they were always there. They had to build the poles/towers to recreate the sound for SSS.

Originally Posted By DlandDug The music for SSS is really a very short "medley," drawn from themes in the William Tell Overture. It's well done. Inside it was bare concrete and exposed metal supports, with a minimum of painted details and a few flat cut outs. Even the themed "bee" seats had to be eliminated when they kept hitting each other. The best aspect of the Stinger was the clever music. The SSS, on the other hand, is a classic swing ride with lavish Disney detail. In other words, just what guests expect at a Disney theme park.

It totally defeated the point of the experience. It would be like putting Dumbo inside a giant fish bowl.
