The Mickey touches are nice, but not quite as detailed as they could be. For all the hate the Orange Stinger got, at least it looked different. The giant orange peel may have blocked the view, but it at least had something visually different about it. Now, this makeover actually makes it even more generic. I also (from the beginning) have questioned why it's being named "Silly Symphony Swings" when it's sole focus is a Mickey Mouse short. I'm just surprised how lazy that is. They know the difference, but are purposefully confusing the two, because they want to fit a cute name with a known character.

Mickey moves his baton? That is such a small portion of the panel. It is like watching a crowd scene on a large TV which is 35 feet away from you and expecting to notice movements of the people in the crowd. I don't think the changes will "read" even for people in the queue. I'm scratching my head as to why they did this.

I always thought that the blocking the view argument was kind of silly since the Golden Zephyr has basically the same view that you'll get now from the peel-less Swings. It's like saying that the Keel Boats weren't as good as the Canoes because you couldn't see the view when both attractions covered the exact same course. Without the buzzing sounds, the scent of orange, and the peel, the Swings are more like the same experience as the Zephyr. In looking at the pics on Miceage today my suspicions about the scale of the new version vs the old one were right: it looks kind of small next to the coaster, the ferris wheel, and the Maliboomer. In fact in some pictures you have to look hard to see it. I do think that this version looks a lot better up close than the previous version of the ride did.

I don't think it's meant for most people to catch right away. It's simply a clever detail that most people will overlook, kind of like the recording of the Darling children playing in their bedroom outside Peter Pan's Flight.
