I place Knott's as more of a "jewel" as it is more ornate under the canopy.

But since they pretty much totally gutted what was there originally, this is a switchover that wouldn't have been my first choice. The Orange Stinger looked clunky, cheap and tacky, so almost anything is better than that. But the new ride, even more so after comparing it with versions at parks like Knott's, ends up looking more generic than ideal for a first-class park. Then again, no one has ever accused DCA of being a truly first-class theme park. I agree with the statement that rides in the Fantasyland section of Disney parks are merely generic attractions dressed up better than their counterparts elsewhere. But they tend to have a lower profile and seem somehow more customized than DCA's swing ride. IOW, DCA's version and the version at Knott's are too close for comfort. However, Paradise Pier has been so awful for so long, that beggars can't be choosers. Now, please get rid of that big eyesore known as the Mailboomer. Send it and the clown facade, among other remnants from 2001, to the nearest junkyard!
