I couldn't get a copy in June..." Do you mean they released the "Dreamlights" inspired updated version that's in the park now? I hadn't heard that...must track one down!

I may be in the minority here, and even though I like the idea of making park music available, I personally have very little interest in buying it. I have quite a few CDs of park music, including a dozen or so of those custom-made Disneyland Forever CDs that were sold in the late 90s (and a couple of WDW Forever CDs that were sold around the same time). And I was really excited to get those CDs back then, but...y'know...I never listen to them now, and don't really ever remember listening to them THAT much. Which is to say, for me, the music is nice to have, but not really worth the price. For me it comes down to the music being a poor substitute for being in the parks. Even the DL 50th CDs (engineered by Randy Thornton, right?) that had 'ride-throughs' and were mixed to give the impression of a complete experience instead of isolated background tracks didn't impress me. In fact, I find the 'ride-through' tracks altogether less interesting than the isolated tracks. But beyond that, I find a lot of the park music to be very generic and hard to enjoy without the total atmosphere. Like the music in Frontierland or the Adventureland drums. They aren't pieces of music that I would listen to if I wasn't AT the Magic Kingdom. Or the Wonders of Life music. It sounds like generic spacey new age music. I don't need that specific new age music to remember what the place was like (and I realize a lot of people like having the specific tracks). Now, an official Disney-produced DVD of extinct attractions with extras and commentaries and the like might be more appealing to me. I would probably pay $20 for a complete video and audio rundown of Horizons. But I realize that sort of thing would likely cost twice as much.

There's a loop from Epcot that puts me back at Epcot while I listen to it, but most of the music does not.

Unique, memorable, distinctive music for attractions--what a concept! So much better than that maudlin crap that's used at the end of Mission: Space. (Destiny? I don't remember the title.)

The vocal range the singer shows is just incredible, and the song itself is a tremendous, soaring melody! Just goes to show . . .

I realize it all boils down to opinion, but Destiny--breathy vocals and finger-snapping and all--sounds like the latest single from an American Idol runner-up, or something arranged for Peabo Bryson. (Remember when the animated movie soundtracks would always have one song performed by a pop or soul singer? Sounds like that to me.)
