I think once Disney fans became aware of where they could purchase hard to find or non existent Disney music they would be willing to pay a premium price for it. After all the Mouse has already indoctrinated us all into knowing that loving all things Mickey does not come cheap.

Literally one of the dumbest decisions I've ever heard. Really...where do they get their business/market research from...? I mean, do they know how many people request music in shops after they've seen a major parade or show? Can't tell you how many people requested Parade of Dreams music every time I was in the park... And now, not even WOC? Wow...

Originally Posted By danyoung >So how come napster got busted. They weren't charging anything?< Because they were giving away for free what was being charged for elsewhere. And that's the point - if Disney isn't selling music tracks anywhere, then it doesn't matter so much if they are available elsewhere for free.

Disney puts out what it wants (like the holiday party CD that came out a few years ago). Right now, Disney wants fanbois to buy vinyl, something I hope flames out in spectacular fashion ... and pins ... always pins. ~Kathie Lee is such a hoot!~
Originally Posted By DlandDug >>The company doesn't think there is any profit/market for selling soundtracks of park music...even parades and shows? Seriously...?<< Seriously. The problem is that there is a mindset in charge that equates success with MILLIONS of units moved. So a recording that would sell "only" in the hundreds of thousands isn't given the time of day. So yes, we will get the latest and greatest Jonas Brothers (with full promotion), but not World of Color...

I admit to having more than a couple now- mainly collect special ed's ...Shag ghost host..Sci Fi Diner..Tiki room etc. sheer pin volumes turned me off from that- I kept one large bag of special pins ( about 250 )- and sold all the rest,,didn't buy one pin this trip

Originally Posted By danyoung > It was one of the guaranteed items I would purchase on my visits whenever there was a new one available, even if it only had a few new tracks.< I have several of the Music From the Parks series. And all of them have some of the same tracks, like Pirates or the HM medley. But there's enough variety in them to make them all valuable to me. Heck, one of them even had the entire soundtrack to Light Magic! I've noticed a tapering off lately of new stuff, and it makes me sad.
