I like Macy's or Nordstroms, not Walmart.

Here's what I said, with the oh-so-offensive term XX'd out:

My family noticed last year that the Xmas decorations were not as plentiful as they had been in years past. We'll be going again this year, and I'm sure without the LoW, it'll look even less festive.

This is a perfect example of why I no longer have an AP. I would feel completely gyped paying for Disney today. If the quality was even the WDW of 10 years ago, I and my family probably would be passholders.

The official excuse---outdated technology---is such an insult, if there was ever a time to boycott these pompous XXXXXs, it'd be now!

So not everyone is cutting back even when there attendance is down.

What I don't get, why can studios feature a whole light extravaganza while Epcot looses a smaller scale... was it cause they could not upgrade the tech or they didn't bother?

That statement has haunted me the past several days not just because of the sentiment but also because of the truth of it. Kevin Yee continually discusses Decline by Degress. I think after spending much of my adult life being a Disney theme park freak...I moved my family to FL in the 80's to work for Disney...I am ready to say no more Disney for me. That is sad in some ways. My office is full of Disney memorabilia from my career and travels, my ipod has over 100 tracks of Disney theme park music, most of our family group pictures have been taken at Disney. But I think I am finally done. Its not just the LOW of course, though it was the final thing for me because it was one of favorite Christmas things at Disney ever. It is all the little Declines by Degrees that has finally jelled for me to say "My Disney doesnt exist anymore." Any hopes that Disney will return to something like it was are gone for me. Iger continues the neutering of Imagination that Eisner started. A friend in Imagineering tells me he is concerned that he wont have a job long since Imagineering has become less a creative department and more a delivery group beholden to several other more powerful departments.

A whole bunch of you will continue to say things like "I agree, but..." and thats great. To each his own. But I wont be spending another dime at Disney. I will continue to have great memories from the NY Worlds Fair and my first Disney attractions to the years I worked for the men who worked with Walt to many, many fun times with my family. But Disney has just become another theme park for me. A chapter in my life that is done. Peace.

I sympathize with you. My family's done something very similar. Before we moved to Florida, we took multiple trips to WDW and DL each year. I suppose sometime around 2000, we stopped. Now that we live in Florida, we go maybe once a year IF we get free tickets. I'm not about to buy an AP, nor pay the ridiculous prices they ask for day-tickets.

But you know what? After we stopped going to Disney, we started to travel (not really the same as "vacation"), and I gotta say, I think I have better memories of those travels than all the trips we took to WDW when I was growing up. Places like Alaska, the American Southwest, the Florida Keys...we still enjoy the parks if/when we go, but there's a whole world out there apart from Disney, and for my money it's even more awe-inspiring and impressive. (No Disney mountain could ever compare to the mountains in Alaska!)

sigh- last night I was at the Mk and while I was waiting for the castle lights the party next to me was complaining about the removal of Twas from the MVMCP and how upset they were about it- Yet they all had wristbands for that nights event. If you are that upset SPEAK WITH YOUR WALLET. I have not attended MVMCP as a guest since 2006 and plan to keep it that way.

Will I still hit Epcot this christmas- Yes but also since I get in free its not truly the same. But I do speak with my wallet with my grand total of $$ spent at WDW since June- 40 bucks. With most being one night at F & W... It used to be 100 a month.

I will spend more money at DLR in one week than I have at WDW in 6 months and thats even with the discounts... Course it would be more if it wasn't the same merchandise..

I like it and will have to borrow it on occasion because it is so true.

Interesting post...Much of it is the same for me.

As for canceling vacations, people won't do that, but they are canceling ADRs, packages, and other things. I know the CP is taking some hits.

...and that's good. Hopefully they see this.

As for the rest of your post, yeah, we did the same from 2001-2007. Went to NYC, up the East Coast, Grand Canyon, Vegas, enjoyed it IMMENSELY. that's real magic.
