The discussion in that link seems to focus on the new floats being too tall to fit under the Christmas garland on Main Street. This was the case for the Parade of Dreams, which ran through the holiday season in 2005, when the parade was still officially just for the 50th anniversary. In the following years, they didn't put up the garland until they began performing A Christmas Fantasy for the season, so the floats could safely pass underneath. I know it's a long shot, but perhaps WDW could follow that cue and perform the Christmas parade daily throughout the holiday season. That way, they'd be able to keep the garland up, and spread a little extra cheer with the parade too. Of course, that means that the parade would no longer be 'exclusive' to the extra-cost parties (and Christmas week itself, crowds and all), so that will never happen...

I'm honestly surprised that they go through the effort of removing part of the float, rather than simply cutting it from the parade for the ~2 months that the garlands are up It's also very strange that they performed MSEP with a Christmas soundtrack mixed in. It's enough of the regular music to get the feel of it, but enough synthesizer Christmas music to just seem really strange. I guess the floats are covered in Christmas lights, but there's something about the parade that has always felt distinctly summer-ey to me

Isn't that what every parade is supposed to be anyway? Or are we now expecting a theme park parade to tell some "story" and take us on a journey of discovery with meaningful themes about sustainability and the brotherhood of man and giving back to the community? I'll just take the pretty cavalcade of different floats, please. ;-)

It was World Peace Relay of torches short of requesting donations in the name of World peace. Good riddance too. Now pull the plug on Reflection of the Millennium Celebration Last Century and EPCOT Center may just have a shot at being the visionary park it was intended to be... at least in Walt's mind.

Fantillusion was basically Fantasmic! on floats but it did try to have a narrative progression from start to finish - the biggest problem was that the parade's Act II (the villains) was far stronger than Act III.
