And "most people" can't afford to spend a night with their family at the Grand Californian. So?

Why is a private club that Walt Disney personally created over 40 years ago, which is now open to the public, suddenly offensive to so many fans? It makes no sense to me at all.

Is it more "open to the public" than previously?

Now that Disney is one of the most powerful corporations on the planet, that is no longer necessary.
So what we have now are obvious examples of wealth exclusivity smack dab in the middle of both parks.
Rich people just have this need to separate themselves from the rest of us, so they can escape the crowds, sip a martini and savor their financial superiority.
I thought Disneyland was for everyone, but that is not the case.

    Sounds good to me.

Man, you're bitter. What do you do when you have to walk through first class on a plane? Or when you have to look up at the luxury boxes at Staples Center from the cheap seats? Or when a Bentley passes your Ford?

Instead of complaining about people who have wealth and enjoy it any way they want, you should be aspiring to join them.

What's the difference from before? Under both scenaios the club membership was exclusively for well-heeled guests. Would you have preferred for management shutter the place and let collect dust? Boy, Disney fans are impossible to comprehend.

As far as I know, that's the most recent one to be built (since new attractions since then haven't really had sponsors), but I'm not sure about the foreign parks; I would assume there's at least one lounge somewhere in each park and WDSP and HKDL both opened after 2000

TDL also has its on version of Club 33 in the World Bazaar areas (their spin on Main Street). It is also on the 2nd floor with large windows, but due to the scale of the surrounding architecture it fits right in and is actually quite difficult to find. While actively searching for it, it took us about 20 minutes to find the entrance

Strange, that people would admire a place they are excluded from.

Oh well, at any rate, it was fun appalling you guys.

Who cares. It's been there as long as I've been going to DL and I admit that I'd love to have a drink there, but I've never been angry or upset that I can't get in. Again, please tell us why this is suddenly an issue when it wasn't 20 years ago?

I can get in any time I want. Why are you "excluded?"

Attitude, probably. I wouldn't want you in either.
