I did stand in line behind him for the DL monorail once but didn't feel like introducing myself. I can only say I emailed him a note after his recent WDW column, which I mostly agreed with, and he couldn't be bothered responding ... which isn't respectful at all. We all know he isn't THAT busy! But I have met and dealt with many of the execs/managers he rips. And guess what? They deserve it, IMHO. On some of the folks, I think he's much too easy (Greg Emmer, for example, he seems to feel is a God, but he was the first exec to start the downward spiral at Epcot and I haven't forgotten that.) <<There's a long list of stuff he's pulled on a lot of people. SO that's sort of why.>> That's what I've always assumed, Jon. But it seems like Internet Disney sites breed that to some extent.

Heck, I love some CMs ... even a few execs. But saying that 3/4ers of the Florida exec contingent need to go work at WalMart or the Olive Garden doesn't make you a Disney basher. Or the fact you know the head of P&R's is clueless about the product he is in charge of leading and rip him (and Disney for keeping him employed and paid well) doesn't either. This Spirit loves Disney ... passionately.

He caused a lot of really bad feelings amongst people who have been around a long time. "he couldn't be bothered responding" That's mostly my doing, after I chased him off of ADD, he stopped communicating with most everyone except his loyalist minion. So don't take offense, he doesn't talk to hardly hardly anymore.

As to the tangent tirade from the other poster, comparing Rather and Bush - that had nothing to do with what constitutes journalism. That's what we in the library call a "rant".

Or Pittsburgh? <<Remember -- 'Post and let Post'>> yeah ... it starts with posts ... then it's booze ... and pot ... next thing you know you're a crack whore sleeping under the 710 freeway in Long Beach yelling to no one in particular 'FastPass was my idea ... all mine ... damn Disney bastards stole it ... and they took my underwear and pencils too! I'm gonna get 'em ...' Yeah ... sure, Jim. Just a simple post.

I don't think anyplace else uses the word "the" in front of the freeway number. Not sure. Of course using "the" used to sound right to me, but now when I hear it, it sounds a bit odd. I guess this is why Madonna has now picked up that absurd pseudo-British accent of hers. I no longer say the word "The" in front of freeway numbers, and she no longer speaks like an American.

It's SO true. I grew up on Northern Cali and now use the word "the" when I'm talking about freeways. My brother pointed that out to me and I never knew I had changed. Funny. On a side note: I was an ADD'er back in the day and Jon led the charge against the cult of Al. And, yes, Al did some weird and inappropriate things. The CAnder incident comes to mind. While he has definitely softened his tone in the last few years he has shown that he can be equally critical of management and hourly employees alike. Make no mistake. He is not only critical of management.

Al Lutz certainly isn't ignored, while I suspect the people on the other side of the fence -- the ones casting daggers his way -- often are. I'm sure creative dunderheads like Barry Braverman had even more free reign at the DisCo in previous years because there apparently were a lot more more sycophants (aka "brown nosers") than Lutz-type people in the DisCo.

That has nothing to do with it. If I cared to, I could be a regular contributor to at least one website. In fact, I started one of the more prominent ones on Disney that currently exists. It just is not something I want to do. I much rather just post on the boards. So, no. It's not because of what you state. The reason for them emnity is due to the behavior, not the attention. And sycophants on the web who think that his behavior is not the cause of the attitude are utterly wrong.

I just spend so much time in LA on business (and have family there as well) that it is my adopted second home. Here, we'd never call it 'the 710' or even '710' ... it would be 'I-710' or perhaps, 'Interstate 710.' But California is a weird, wacky, wonderful place. Where else can one freeway (we call them highways here) have three different names?
