There is no "knee jerk" involved in the massive amount of time and labor that has been expended over many years trying to make sure that gun use is reduced in this country. The knee jerk has been consistent in the gun lobby, which immediately claims that any efforts to curb gun ownership is nothing more than the first step to total confiscation.
