While I believe my overall point about inciting violence is correct, it's clear that I've picked the wrong example as a jumping off point.

The U.S. has a history of this, but it isn't exclusive to this country. We all tend to demonize our enemies. We did it to the Japanese in WWII, and we did it to the Germans in WWI. Trouble is, no one ever learns from mistakes.

This is, though, they DESERVED IT! Even though it was only certain elements of their nation, those elements were doing horrific things. Unconscionable things. They deserved the demonization, and paid the price accordingly. I can't for the life of me equate THAT to demonizing ALL middle-easterners for the crimes of a handful of radicals. To me, that equates to condemning all Southerners for the crimes of the few who lynched black people back in the 50's. Most Southerners just lived there.

It's the same thing. There were plenty of people living in the US back then affected by the actions of a specific group.

I don't know if I'd take it that far. There was an Islamic spokesperson on MSNBC the other day saying that if you think it's bad here you should see the attitudes towards Muslims in parts of Europe. Apparently it's much worse.

There have been some very controversial civil rights discrimination laws towards Muslims instituted in France. Job discrimination against Muslims in that country is well known.

That's what I'm referring to. Little known fact, but we put Germans in camps in WWI as well.
