I'm not ecdc, but I will answer the question.

Anyone who says there will never be another 3rd party is a fool. There will be other legitimate 3rds parties.

What I think you are really asking is will we have a 3 party system. The answer to that is most likely not, at least for extended periods of time.

He should give that back to them in spades because I truly believe he's tried to be bipartisan only to be forced into caving by a party of spoiled children.

    You expected something?

The right wing would blame the clubbing of baby seals on Obama/Democrats if they could.

It's six degree of Barrack Obama.

No. I suggest you read up on Duverger's law. When you have plurality voting in single-member districts, the natural trajectory of political parties is the winnowing down to two major parties.

Oh, I am quite sure he realized that before the the first time "bipartisan" ever left his mouth. I am sure his reasons for using the term are political. Voters like the sound of it, even if they do not actually want bipartisanship, and it is a way of at least requiring the GOP to say they won't participate or come to the table.

    This.

And historically third-parties arise around single issues. They can be a flash in the pan and get seats, but it never lasts. See also, Know-Nothing Party.

"Obama could kill his wife and I would still vote for him over the GOP candidate"

jut asking- not looking for trouble. I remember when this board was heavily the other way -- there was little real debate then either- it's a shame

Since I live in campaign HQ here in Chicago lots of good topics but afraid to raise them. Big topic here today is how smart is it for Derek Rose to be stumping for Obama - especially the night before the playoffs start at noon tomorrow.

my thiughts for what they are worth.
I have no issue with him stepping forward to support him ifhis message is well thought out etc. I don't want to see him in attack mode on anyone else as I don't think he's got that political knowledge base at 23

I am more concerned if the program runs long tonite - need him fresh for tomorrow.

political sentiment on sports talk running about 2-1 against him speaking out - but not for the reason you'd think, most reference Jordan never did it --

vbdad55 I'm a moderate republican and I don't mind saying so because everyone has their own views and I respect the Dems so I only ask for respect in return. I can be very liberal on some issues and very conservative on others. Frankly I'm all over the board but I chose to vote republican because that's the enivornment I was raised in and that's how the socializtion process shaped me for now.

My problem is also believing in Obama's words. Sometimes I feel that he is invisible until called to state his opinion. I would prefer maybe a little more backbone for lack of a better term. Even if I don't like a policy or law he is my president and he is your (by your I mean America) president. I would accept his choices as our leader but I feel like he doesn't put the GOP or anyone else in their place enough.

As far as the next election goes I'm leaning more towards voting Dem simply because the GOP candates don't fully represent my views. But the only thing holding me back is Obama because I'm not sure he has the strength to put his actions into motion. I would probably have an easier time voitng for a democrat if they had a stronger personality (can't think of the right word but hopefully you get what I mean).
