I do not think that Sarah is stupid. I think that she is nowhere near informed enough in national or international politics to be in the white house. Rush may be an a** but he is a smart one. He is fully aware that she does not have the knowledge or experience to be in that position. Anyone that has ever heard her speak knows that. So why would he support her? Because she would be easily led by people that think like Rush does.

I don't see it like that at all. Rush takes to Palin because she: is against abortion, is for "less gov't", attacks Obama, carries the 'R' instead of 'D', likes Joe the Plummer and so on.<<

The two things aren't mutually exclusive.

This is a subculture where stupidity is encouraged, even cultivated. They consider it part of their identity, much the same as certain African Americans calling themselves the N word and deliberately wearing shabby ill-fitting clothing.

It IS a big part of why The Base likes her - because she's looked down upon by the educated and intelligent, just like The Base is.

--intangibles indeed! But one intangible is not gender per se since both Palin and Kay are female(obviously). Your assessment looks sound; it looks spot on but it doesn't necessarily show that the likes of a Rush hold inherent biases against women.

    Let's try something else:
what was Rush's opinion of Colin Powell *PRIOR* to his endorcement of Obama, during the days of being high up in the Bush administration? If Rush spoke favorably before but now holds resentment wouldn't it be safe to say that Rush sees Powell as a defector who sided with the enemy. And it is the defection and not race which motivates Rush to act like an ass.

Now if the Rushes were on Powell's case when he was a Republican Party faithful then maybe the caption 'racist' applies.

So, as long as women keep their pretty little mouths shut if they happen to have differing opinions, he is fine with them.

I think there is an element of racism in some factions (I never saw racism until I visited the South). But I think these god fearing, flag waving yahoos are really frightened of government. Why, I do not know. Surely if America is supposedly the greatest country in the world, and elected members are of the people, for the people, then they have nothing to fear.

I just wonder if the world would have been better off if the Confederate States of America had been a different country.

I have never been able to understand the older generation's fear of women? Having grown up in the 80s and 90s, and having a sister only a year younger than me, it was always quite obvious to me that women and men were equals, and there's nothing worrisome about that at all. Why would I ever care if a woman was my boss - makes no difference to me.

These people just need to go away - I'm tired of them always being afraid of the "other". Why is it so hard for them to realize that deep down we're all the same? Why is that so threatening to them?

    I hear you,

however if the exact same Palin(((with her "intangibles" like her looks, lack of experience, lack of political clout, disconnect with the the educated elite)))
reversed herself on every issue expect the Rush factions to quickly disown her----they would attack her worse than Obama.

    Conversely,
I fully believe that if Palin were to hit the books and aquire the analytic skills of a Justice Scalia and become well informed on international relations and lose her pretty features in a nasty car collison but hold onto every current political position then the Rushes would still favor her.

Most of the conservative wingnuts in this country are uneducated old white guys. Would they pay ANY attention to a woman who isn't hot? No way Jose.

I doubt they believe it themselves 100%.

FWIW, Rush originally started out almost two decades ago in radio, as a liberal pundit. Randi Rhodes worked at the same radio station as Rush; she's known him for years. Both of them were struggling to get ahead in the business. But at some point, Rush realized that liberals sink and conservatives swim in the communications game, so he switched sides. He's now working with a $400 million contract. No way he could earn that kind of money on Air America.

Rush didn't have a political epiphany. Rush had a fiscal epiphany. It's all for show. Who the hell knows what he actually believes. But since he contradicts himself as much as he does, I'm guessing it's no where near the level of his listeners.

No, most would wait to see what Rush said on the topic. It would be mostly up to him. A few would follow Sarah regardless.

Have we not seen more than enough examples of the entire Base reversing themselves on an issue seemingly without being aware of it?

    >>I fully believe that if Palin were to hit the books and aquire the analytic skills of a Justice Scalia etc.<<

Clearly that would be a sign of the apocalypse, so it wouldn't matter what they thought. They'd all be raptured out of here anyway.

I don't find either of those women to be the least bit attractive. They look angry, creepy, and vaguely asexual to me.

    Must be the crazy.

I always wanted to know how Ozzy became so damn incoherent...... so that's how Ozzy became such a nonsensical talker. His good buddy must have been around that freak Rush too long at the radio station only to then turned around and 'infect' Ozzy with the same nonsense.
