Yeah, while they stressed hsi family has yet to join him, they also said this was not a job he wanted, yet he accepted it anyway. You could tell he wasn't thrilled about NBC being there. Presidents rarely keep the same Chief of Staff for their entire run for a lot of different reasons, and he looks prime to leave as soon as he feels things are running well enough to function without him.

Anyone else get the impression though, that there was just a little too much emphasis on the whole "sacrifice" thing working for the White House (not only Emanuel, but everyone..not to mention the tone of the commentary)?

I mean come on..it's a freakin dream for most of them (again,Emanuel seemed more a hired gun and a reluctant one at that), and it's not like anyone put a gun to their heads and said "YOU WORK HERE NOW!", they all totally chose that life.

Would they have been happier if their candidate had lost?

Sorry to be negatory on this one, but there seemed to be a lot more "boo-hoo's" than necessary (frankly, the same goes for the President).

Geez..if you don't like it, why they heck did you go into politics?

For that matter, why didn't you just go for an East Wing job? Seems much more chill.

As for sacrifice, I believe I can understand that to a degree. When I spent the month in Italy a couple of years ago without my family there is no doubt that was a once in a lifetime experience. I mean, all expenses paid in that beautiful country wasn't anything to sneeze at.

But, there is also no doubt it was a tremendous sacrifice for my family, particularly for my wife who was at home with our then 4 year old and 9 month old. And, I can tell you that just two weeks into it I fought a serious moment of depression. I mean, here I was in Venice walking over the Rialto Bridge but nearly in tears because I missed my kids.

No, it isn't the same. But, I can certainly appreciate the sentiment and I don't think it was overblown.

And I think, staged or not, this is why this little clip is interesting. Obama seems to be quite adept at juggling a variety of diverse activities from taking his wife out on the town, to making a burger run for his staff, to meeting with heads of state. He seems at ease in almost every situation.

I can not see Carter doing this. I can see him lecturing you on the importance of fiber. He was Gore with out the charm.

I can definitely see Reagan doing this. Now, he would get all the orders wrong, and everyone would eat it anyway, but he would do it.

I have seen this man sweat once about anything---that's acary lol.

But yeah, he's just one cool dude. And just how everyone reacts around him wherever he goes is insane. I cant imagine that happening for a full 8 years if he's around that long, but I dont think that facination with him will ever fully disappear either.

If he ever makes it to Australia here and talks to Rudd, people will go NUTS here for him ;).
