It's highly likely that many of them - especially from Cheney's office will be revealed to have been destroyed in an attempt to avoid criminal prosecution. That alone is a high crime. Investigations will ensue to determine what's missing, and charges will be filed, indictments will be next, and convictions. As much as bush may hope to ride out his remaining years resting on his laurels as the "Worst President Ever" - he can't. As for Cheney, I wouldn't be surprised if he heads off to Dubai to live out his golden years in political exile. I've been thinking about starting a thread on this topic, and still may. The short version is that an Obama administration poses grave risks for the future of the republican party. The GOP simply cannot abide Obama being successful in recovering the economy, bringing the wars to a close, shutting down guantanamo, achieving anything close to health care reform, and improving relations with foreign nations. What if he's successful? One result would be to provide stark contrast as to just how corrupt and incompetent the republicans have been. The GOP has a vested interest in Obama failing, so they won't look quite so bad in comparison. You thought you saw vicious gutter politics with clinton, just wait.
