United States ranks 45th in the world. Our country ranks lower than: Japan France Switzerland Sweden Australia Iceland CANADA Italy Spain Norway Israel Greece Austria Netherlands South Korea Germany and the UNITED KINGDOM The US ranks lower than these and other countries in life expectancy. Yet we are currently the NUMBER ONE nation in GDP as measured by the IMF, the World Bank, and the CIA World Factbook: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L...s_by_GDP_(nominal) We are the richest nation on the planet. Hands down. Without a doubt. Wealth beyond belief. But... we rank 45th in the world for life expectancy. Lower than CANADA and the UK, countries you claim have badly managed socialized medicine. Canadians and Brits live longer than Americans. FACT. You cannot deny this FACT no matter how many stats you keeping citing. Our health care system is BROKEN. We need to fix it. NOW. So take your incomplete misrepresented statistics and conservative cheerleading and stick 'em where pediatricians used to measure body temperature.

Obviously, these people weren’t there to listen, and just wanted to express their discontent with the current government. What I find so scary in all of this is how little trust these people seem to have for the current government, and how afraid they are of it. I mean, we went 8 years with Bush and Cheney; all these people weren’t scared then when the administration was basically tearing a hole in the constitution? Why didn’t these people get worked up over things like the Patriot Act, or the Iraq war? Why is health care reform suddenly the issue that gets them into the streets? Is this just the fallout from the economic crisis and people are showing their anger? Or is this because the media has whipped these people into a frenzy with all their lies and misinformation? Or is it something else? Either way, this is definitely starting to get scary!

I think a lot of these people (not all) are scared and upset and angry that a black man is their President. They're so incredibly ignorant that they believe he wasn't born in this country, and I'm sure many of them believe he's a Muslim. You're seeing what many of us predicted during the election come to fruition. The GOP and their commentators fanned the flames of hatred by saying he was "pallin' around with terrorists" and refusing to stand up and do the right thing. The exception, of course, was McCain, who got booed at his own rallies for it. Make no mistake: the birther movement, these screaming people with their anger, fear, and violence, is all linked. If Barack Obama's father had been a white British man named NIgel Collingsworth, I promise you there would be no birther movement and a lot less of this behavior. You're seeing the remnants of racism in the United States. They're a small minority, but they're a dangerous, scary, vocal minority.

There's just something about Obama that has made these people completely lose their...uh, "stuff" and I just don't believe it's because he's a Democrat. It's hard to say if it wouldn't happen to Hillary if she had also won because we already know their irrational hatred of the Clintons. I dunno...I don't think they believe they're racist but somewhere, deep down, the fact that Obama is black is driving them batty.

Sadly, it appears to be working.
